I'm a firm believer in washing your hair every day along with showering daily. There are dry shampoos on the market, inexpensive one is by Suave and of course there are numerous high end ones from Tigi, Matrix, etc. Personally I can't stand not washing my hair on a daily basis and I have long, healthy, shiny hair.

As for washing your hair daily it depends on what kind of shampoo your using. To be honest i would use a salon brand shampoo its easier on your hair and doesnt have as many chemicals and preservatives in it as cheaper shampoos do. Ive used dry shampoos from cheaper brands like Treseme, Suave etc, and i find they dont work as well as higher end dry shampoos, Try using Hempz dry shampoo or Big Sexy Hair Dry Shampoo (i prefer this one), they both have pleasent smells that last throughout the day. Baby powder works just as well. They will also help to take the smell out.

well i take a shower daily...sheesh! :)
i just prefer not to wash it daily, i can work with it better.
i've tried the dry shampoos...they either make my hair greasy looking or stiff as a board. i'm sure i'm probably not using them rite.
i'll try the baby powder suggestion.
Thanx ladies :)

Didn't mean to imply you don't bathe daily, just some women don't (gross) and have posted that here at Beautylish.
I'm currently using Catwalk by TIGI on a daily basis and just can't stand not washing my hair daily or bathing daily. I just don't see how some women don't bathe daily. Gross! I can understand not washing your hair daily but I love my hair smelling yummy and getting complements from people on how good my hair looks and smells.

PFFF... my hair smells too, girl. Don't even worry. Who cares? I bet you're the only one who even notices. Besides, it probably doesn't smell bad, it probably just smells like... HAIR. I happen to like my natural scent (everyone has one and it's not a dirty thing!) Here's a little secret I'm gonna share with you too: I don't always shower daily either. OMG EWWWWWW... Yeah no, seriously, not a big deal.

I wash my hair every two days, but if my hair smells, I'll wash it more frequently. I'd say if you want it to smell good for yourself at all times, then sure, wash your hair everyday with a shampoo scent you love best. I think I read in a psychology textbook long ago that although many people are self-conscious, worrying about how much they smell... Other people don't really notice at all.

It just drives me nuts when I catch a wiff.
In the winter it smells good even after a couple days.
@angela, ur crazy! Lol. I luv it!
@ yasmin, I understand what ur sayin. I used to b like that up til a couple years ago when I just didn have timeto fite with clean hair daily. Sounds weird, but my hirdresser said it was fine to not wash it daily. & the more I read about it a lot of peeps don't wash daily. @ least their hair. I never thought about not bathn daily

Kymberli - I'm just curious, do you dry your hair completely...whether air dry or by blow drying? Perhaps that is the problem.

In regards to Shay's question, I definitely think this could be a contributing factor. When it comes to air drying-if you just leave your hair down and it's still soaked, it's definitely going to start to smell because a moist dark environment is something bacteria love. Bacteria=stink. Whenever I air dry my hair, I usually "whip my hair back and forth" to make sure that my hair just doesn't lay flat while drying and to help prevent the stink. If this isn't the case, then maybe it's because of all the heat and sweat that we have to suffer through during the summer. I hate having that "outside" smell in my hair so I usually run around with a mini bottle of hair spray like Love Spell from Victoria's Secret handy since using perfumes or other body sprays with alcohol will damage your hair.

I wash my hair every 4 days. 5 if I can push it. I have pink hair, it's a must. Oscar Blandi's dry shampoo is awesome. And it smells like lemons:] I'd die without it.

Its actually better if you DONT wash your hair daily anyways..Shampoo doesn't really do anything but strip your hair of its natural oils. I wash my hair maybe three times a week, but I also make sure to CONDITION it! You can look up facts on shampooing your hair on google and get a lot of good information. Cheaper shampoos dont even penetrate into the hair because the molecular size is too big to even penetrate. So it just coats the hair and dries it out and eventually your hair will split off! As for how to make it smell better, that I really dont know. Lol But I have heard alot of good things about the Big & Sexy dry shampoo although I have ever used it!

i wash & condition it.
then i squeeze (not twist) as much water as a i can out of it.
then i wrap it in a towel. it's usually in the towel for a 1/2 hour to an hour, depending on what i'm doing.
then i unwrap it, pick it (i don't comb bcuz i like to leave the waves in it), & style.
it's usually totally dry b4 i leave the house.
thanx for ur help ladies. i'll definetly try ur suggestions :)

So I was thinking about this more and put my own judgement aside about not washing hair.
Have you tried a baking soda, lemon juice mix? The only draw back to using lemon juice is that it will bleach the hair naturally. You can avoid this with apple cider vinegar. Make a mix, apply to the hair and rinse with warm water. I don't have a ratio of liquid to baking soda but it should be a liquid concoction and not a paste.

I started using Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo and it has a strong enough scent to leave your hair smelling good. Some might not like it because of the scent, but if you're really trying to make sure your hair smells better, I think this is a good solution to it. You can find it at Target and it goes for about $2.74.
A tip on dry shampoo is to focus it on your roots and massage it into the rest of you hair that way your hair doesn't look so heavy and dry at the roots.
I hope this helps!

I have A LOT of hair and it;s very long as well...i don't wash it everyday...actually i average about a wash per week...except in the summer then it's 2-3x's due to sweat ....i use the new aveeno products and it makes my hair smell clean...whenever i feel like i need a retouch and want it to smell better then i apply a dry shampoo called PSSSTTTT ( you can find it at walmart or beauty supply stores) i hope this helps!
