Ok, if you think $38 is bad then take a look at Beauty Fix. It's $49.99 and you get to pick 8 items you want to try.

http://beautyfix.com/

You start off on BeautyFix by creating a profile based on your hair color, eye color, skin color and of course ethnicity. From there you go on to answer some basic skin care questions like skin type and of course your age. I'm kind of insulted that they're lumping women age 35 to 39 with women between 40 and 44. I'm sorry but that's a 10 year difference and skin changes dramatically between 35 and 44 just as it does between 25 and 35. The third page/step asks about your hair but once you get to the final step you get to pick 8 products. Unfortunately it gave me nothing but anti-aging skin care choices with a couple of makeup items. Yeah, no thanks. I went back and changed my age and sure enough it gave me a list of different items, I left the other options the same. Agism much? The list they gave me was crap nothing I'd try to begin with

My thoughts on this is that for $50 I expect far more than the options given. I'm insulted by the fact that because I'm in my mid-30s that I would be offered more anti-aging products when it wasn't even something I selected as being a concern for me. As for cosmetic products (makeup brushes, palettes) listed on this page ( http://beautyfix.com/products_all.php ) I didn't see any of that listed in my age field of 35-44. This seems to be a big rip off for $50.

I know SpaRitual Nail Lacquer - Airhead 0.5oz retails for around $10, give or take, and the pro price is typically $5. The SpaRitual Instinctual Moisturizing Lotion - Indonesian Ginger 1.7oz. full size it's 7.7 oz and the pro price is $14 so a retail price would probably be around $28 so that sample size has a retail value of around $6.20. Hand sanitizer I can get from Bath & Body for a couple of dollars during a sale. The Degree Mist I can pick up at my dollar store, the Jonathan products I could careless for (used before and it's crap), the Caress stuff I can get full size for free or near free with coupons and a good sale and the rest... garbage in my opinion because it's stuff I wouldn't buy in the first place. Your thoughts?

I wish we had other sampling options. Sometimes I feel like I'm being jipped!

I know, right? My local mall only has a JCPenney Sephora and Macy's of course MAC but you can't get samples at MAC and Macy's counter people can be downright rude. JCPenney Sephora, least my local one is tiny, and they don't have pre-packaged samples so the only (three) samples I can get are items they have in stock and even that is basically limited to liquids and cream (really can't get a decent sample of shadows or perfumes there). Sure one can write the companies and ask but many will say no they offer samples if you purchase something.

I've actually tried this multiple times because they sent me two months free for review consideration, and while I definitely love the concept, I don't think the selection is really great: both times they basically offered the same products, and all were products that I wasn't particularly interested in (anti aging eyecream when I'm hardly 18? NO THANKS). When I tallied up all the products I recieved, the retail price was definitely over $200 considering everything was pro brands, but..... I wasn't particularly impressed with anything besides the redpoint cover up compact which is probably my favorite concealer for dark circles. Yeah, the selection isn't good and the brands are limited and aren't makeup oriented -- more skin and haircare products than anything else. It's a bust for me.

The cleansing foam is actually really nice (alone it would be $50) and I'll probably miss it when it's finally gone (i'm on my second free one now) but it's not something I would consider purchasing after it's done. There are better options.

There are so many of this type of sites now.. it's hard to keep up. There was the mypinkbox but it closed and now there's the ecoemi which is eco-friendly.
