haha! well it was just me ranting about how insurance companies won't pay for a lot of procedures that work well for acne because apparently acne isn't emotionally damaging enough to have it covered.... yea right it's not damaging! anyone who's had a bad case knows that it definitely is : (

I feel you on that Angela.

What procedures are out there?

Cause I'm kind of getting tired of all these creams. =|

hmmm now I'm curious what procedures DO insurance companies cover??? I wish they would cover eye surgery...glasses are uncomfortable and contacts are a pain!

Every insurance company is different so you have to do a little homework as to what your company covers. And even if it's a "covered" procedure your personal coverage is going to vary based on the plan you have. Insurance compaies don't like to tell doctors outright exactly how much they're going to pay for things either- which makes for a big old mess and possibly a bigger bill than you're expecting in the end... (I used to process insurance claims for a doc so I've seen this firsthand).

BUT- all that aside, some stuff that realllly works includes fractal lazer light therapy, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, etc- none of which is usually covered by insurance because it's considered purely "cosmetic." My prescription insurance wouldn't even cover Retin-A.  Jerks.

@Angela W - My insurance company wouldn't cover the retin-a either, but I called my insurance co and protested then had my Dermo send a letter exclaiming it was for adult acne. Insurance companies automatically think you are using retin-a as a wrinkle cream. After that - they covered it, less my prescription co-pay. I wish I could have light therapy. :-( $1500 is not in my budget.

When I used Duac my insurance barely covered it; it was still $50 a pop. so lame.
