Papaya soap

Papaya contains an enzyme called papain. Papain is used to tenderize meat. What it does for your skin is act like an acid peel much like the acid in apples.

Most stores have an ethnic section that sell Mexican soaps. Papaya soap is sold for under $3 and while it's claimed that it "bleaches" your skin it doesn't. It simply helps remove dead layers of skin which of course brighten the skin thus makes it look like your skin has been bleached. So don't believe it when people claim it bleaches your skin, it doesn't.

You can buy fresh papaya at most stores. Look for unripen papaya for best results as those contain more papain than the ripen fruit.

If you use fresh papaya you can either use slices on your skin OR puree it in the blender with a bit of lemon juice and apply it to your skin. Leave on for a few minutes then rinse off. Do NOT leave on your skin for more than 5 minutes or you do risk irritating your skin.
