Could your diet be hurting you?

My best friend of 6 years recently was diagnosed with a massive kidney stone. The kidney stone was so large, the doctors told her she could not pass it on her own and has to get a procedure done to shrink it to a size which she can pass. My friend mind you, is 22 years old, kidney stones aren't typically a health concern of young adults but her diet played a SIGNIFICANT role in developing one.

Since she was naturally slim, she was able to get away with eating junk food, fast food, and drinking soda. While I know ,any of you aren't out there eating fast food twice a day like she was, I know some people out there are! And even if you have a fast metabolism and are getting away with eating a poor diet and staying slim, your still hurting your body by consuming those foods in excess.

Advice for good health and a life free of kidney stones as well as beauty on the outside:

1. WATER -- you must be drinking water! not juice. not tea. not rockstar or soda but WATER! Nothing man made can compare to how essential water is to health ( and beauty)

2. VARIETY-- Are you eating colorful foods? Eat foods that grow from the ground, that can picked from a tree, or killed and grilled. Eating more fresh foods is 100% than eating packaged/processed fake food.

3. EXCESSIVE SODIUM/SUGAR INATKE -- kidney stones in teens and young adults are usually caused by this!! Read labels, the average person is only supposed have roughly ( you can look this up online many resources out there) 2300 mg of sodium a day many fast food items contain 1500mg in them pay attention to what you are eating!! Same goes for sugar!! Reading labels is the best thing you can do!

Anyways, just wanted to share this with everyone!! Because in my opinion, good health = beauty =]

That's awesome! My boyfriend works at Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and while we tend to only eat fast food once a month, that's becoming too much for him! He says after he saw what he deep fries everything in its just not the type of food he wants to put in his body anymore! lol Being healthy has so much more to do than just simply being overweight or skinny! Many of my naturally "skinny" friends eat such garbage I can only imagine what their insides look like! I saw a few documentaries on heart disease and you would be surprised how many slim people were having heart attacks and dying simply because of what they ate!! I think that's great that you changed your eating habits!! More people need to realize and consider health especially if they are thinking in terms of beauty! =]

Recently I've been more health aware, and have really seen the difference in my hair and skin! I've always drank water, I just tried to drink an extra cup or two a day (but I can't go without my morning cup of tea!) I've stopped putting salt on my food, it's a bad habit. And I've stopped drinking fizzy drinks and eating sweets altogether. However, I'm one of the biggest chocolate lovers ever, I'm afraid I could never give that up :(

hahaha the best part about chocolate is that its not bad for you in moderation! Usually people that crave chocolate ( like myself) aren't getting a certain vitamin that's in chocolate ( I think its vitamin K? I have to read up on it again!) but a good multi vitamin does help! To be honest I have a terrible sweet tooth usually an hour after I eat dinner! To help with this, I usually reach for a bowl of cereal like frosted shredded wheat or drink tea! Chai is my favorite i drink it twice a day when its cold but I drink it plain lol Just cutting out and limiting things like salt, sugar, saturated fats makes a huge difference! BUT all of those things are okay once in a while! I went trick or treating last week and had a ton of candy! I think its finally out of my system! I took a handful and gave the rest of my pillow case away lol I

I'm actually eating chocolate right now! Haha xD And yeah, I've easily given up fizzy drinks, sweets, crisps (thats English for chips :P) and all that crap, and I've stopped adding salt and sugar to things, but the chocolate, God forbid...

hahahaha do you eat Nutella? I find it to help me! I put some on whole wheat toast and BAM instant chocolate craving problem solver! It's pretty good for you too! =] Yeah I think chips/crisps lol were the hardest to cut out for me because they are at every social gathering I go to! And if they have tortilla chips and salsa I am a goner lol
