I put in an application for a seasonal position with my local Ulta, and am hoping to hear back within a couple of days. When I went in to inquire yesterday, the lady told me to call the general manager once my application was in the system - I did and he's out of the office and will be back tomorrow. I hope to talk to him then.
Do any of you have any experience working for Ulta, and can maybe give me a few pointers? I have little to no retail experience, but my current job/work experience includes working with the public. I have flexible hours, can work weekends and evenings as well as some mornings.
Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. :)

Sorry I can't help. I'm new to retail too. I just put in an ap for Sephora. Hope I get it.

Thanks for the input, Smashley. It sounds like something that I really could do well, and enjoy at the same time. In my current field, it's really important to "leave work at work" so I don't think that I'd have a problem with the projecting that you described - I'm a problem-solver by nature so I'd really be motivated to help the customer out. After all, that's what a good customer service person does, right?
Just curious, if you remember at all - how long did it take for you to hear from them after you submitted your application online? Does it have to go to the "home office" and then back to the store itself for seasonal, or does the store manager have discretion about hiring?
I was told to call the manager after I put my application in the system. I did, yesterday, and spoke to him for a minute, but it seemed as though he wanted to check out my application first. Any idea how long I'm going to have to wait? I put in an application for Macy's too and I have an interview with them tomorrow, but I'd much prefer Ulta, so I'm a bit anxious. Any thoughts you have to share would be appreciated.
Thanks!! :)

The position I'm interviewing for at Macy's is a cosmetic job, so although it could be fun if I got it, I'd really, really prefer Ulta.
Thanks. I did call once and talked to him early yesterday, so I'm thinking I'll hop by tomorrow with a copy of my resume. I did get permission to use my current supervisor as a reference since I filled in the application (which isn't editable, apparently), so I want to add that and let them know they can call her and use that as an "excuse" to check in. :) Too obvious? ;)
Your support and input is very much appreciated. Thank you. :)
