Dry flaky skin

I have had a few brides that have very dry and flaky skin. Even though in pictures the texture doesn't really show up, makeup does emphasize the flakiness even after moisturizing the skin prior to foundation application. i know this is caused by the lack of exfoliating but i wanted to know if there are any Pro tricks to minimizing the visibility of flaky dry skin.

Texture is one of the hardest things to work with and many people have unrealistic expectations when it comes to what makeup can do for them. It's makeup, not magic.

If that was something I noticed during the trial, I'd suggest a skin care plan leading up to the wedding. Adequate hydration, day/night moisturizing routine, no new, harsh products or treatments right before etc.

If it's an immediate concern, keep any friction to the skin to a minimum. In particular, don't sweep your brush/sponge against the 'grain' as it will pull the flakes away from the skin.. go with the flow. Also consider using a lot of liquid or cream products so you can tap/pounce them into the skin to blend.

Dry skin can be so hard to work with. I have dry skin, without any flakiness, but regardless I still get texture when applying foundation. It doesn't glide evenly against my dry skin. My best tip is to really try to LAY the foundation down rather then buffing it in. Either with a sponge or a flat foundation brush. With a sponge, do a stippling motion all over the face. And with a brush, get the foundation on the area and then pat and press the brush all over until the texture disappears.
By using this method, you aren't lifting any dry skin, you're basically pressing it on top, and you get a much smoother appearance.

I used to have that problem until I found that if you apply the foundation right after you apply your moisturizer while the skin is still moist the foundation will go on alot smoother! I know most ppl say you should give your moisterizer time to sink into your skin but that did not work for my dry skin!
