Taking Pics of Yourself

Can anyone give me any advice on taking pics of myself? I'd love to put up more pics of my looks and work, but I never seem to be able to get a good shot.

What is the best light to use? What setting do I put my camera on? How do you guys get those amazing close ups of your eyes?

I have a Polaroid i634 digital camera thats only 6.0 megapixels, but it takes pretty decent shots when I'm not trying to take them of myself :P

ANY tips, tricks, hints, etc. would be sooo amazing!!

Thanks,
Tiffany

Macro setting & Natural light =] Also i find its handy to have a mirror somewhere on the other side so you can see if your positioning the camera right ^_^

I agree ... Macro setting, turn down the ISO down as far as possible (if your camera allows this), and natural light or daylight bulbs if you're like me and only find the time to take pics at night haha. I also have a mini tripod for my camera (I think I paid $15 for it) and I use a mirror on occasion to see positioning. Hope this helps!

i use a DSLR with a portrait lens which means it is specifically for close up shots, but i keep it on manual focus with a low ISO and quick shutter speed. lighting is EVERYTHING. E V E R Y T H I N G! i agree with what Jane said -- a mirror helps so much. also, when set up the right way, multiple (or even just one) mirror helps bounce light around to create even more light, kind of like a real studio effect. try to take pictures in natural light, maybe not in full on sunlight because it can create harsh shadows, but somewhere that is flooded WITH sunlight. it's ok if you take like, 50 pictures that suck, we go through a bagillion before we get just the right one. i do think practice makes perfect, as well.

natural lighting, all the way. that's basically how i take all my pictures lol. and it's basically practice practice practice! and look at other womens pictures and see how they pose, and try it out. you never know it may work for you and it may not.

whats the difference between macro and normal? I use my cell to take pics those are the only options i have for that. I have iso but i have that on auto.

Are there any affordable cameras that take nice quality pictures? Something small like a digital camera? My last camera fell into a lake so I have been taking pictures from Blackberry =/ great phone bad camera!

@Jenna Macro takes very detailed pics, I use this setting for my product and swatch pics.

@LeeAnn I highly suggest looking at some of the newer Canon point and shoots. You can see reviews on how crisp the pics are, how fast the shutter speed is, etc.
