Hahaha, Loved it!! I'm so sick of THOSE people who think if anything other than MAC touches their face is not worthy. I LOVE MAC but I'm not about to pretend it's the ONLY good thing around! Great article! :D

I love this article. I've been saying the same for a few years now! Some people think MAC is God's Gift to cosmetics and it's really annoying and funny at the same time. Everyone is entitled to have their fave brand, I understand that, but some people really take it to the extreme!
There are so many wonderful brands out there and for those who insist that MAC is the Hoy Grail; well, sad to say you are missing out!!

What's funny is that REAL MUA in the movie, tv and print industries don't use MAC all the time - maybe an item here and there but they use such a wide range of makeup from the cheapest low-end drugstore brands to brands most of us will never be able to afford ($400 for a tube of lipgloss for example). A true MUA uses everything they can.

I will admit I'm a die hard fan of MAC. I will only use their lipsticks. But I definetly still buy other brands. Nars and MakeupForever have great cosmetics also. I just prefer MAC because it is one of the more affordable department store brands and they have awesome products. But if you look in my makeup stash you will find everything from Revlon, to Loreal, to Urban Decay!

Great article! I agree love MAC too but there are so many great brands out there I'd never stick to using just one!.

@ Christian-thnx for this post. I was introduced to MAC about 8 years ago on the set of a Disney commercial. I used it for a while but discovered some other "go to" brands for my everyday makeup needs. Now, I only use MAC for eyeshadow and concealer. My go to foundation and powder is Revlon Colorstay.

I absolutely love MAC [especially their lipsticks], but... I agree there are other things that are good. I love my NARS and Benefit blushes, Urban Decay eyeshadows, and Bobbi brown liner... as well as my L'Oreal mascara and liquid liner.. and random $2 eyeliner, haha. Really... it's no fun to just stick with one brand... D;

I think it's funny when I see YouTube videos of people doing MAC hauls and I read the comments to see: "OMG, HOW CAN YOU AFFORD ALL THAT MAC?"
I remember when I just started, I was afraid to step into a MAC store because I thought it was expensive, only to later learn they were middle/high-end. For a company that doesn't advertise much, they are definitely well known.
The only things I'll use from them are their brushes and eyeshadows though. Everything else is not bad, but not suitable for all skin types.
Make Up For Ever, Tarte, Cargo, Revlon, Covergirl, and Physician's Formula are a few of my other top favs. MAC gets credit from me as to having brushes that do what they're supposed to do. Aside from that, I've yet to stumble upon anything else from them particularly special other than their Matte^2 eye shadows.

Such an entertaining article! I love MAC, but I'm not a big fan or their face products like foundation or concealer. However, I do love their lipsticks, lip glosses, blushes, and eyeshadows. But I prefer UD eyeshadows over MAC's. I normally reach for a drugstore foundation.

Oh my gosh such a relieving article, it's good to know others think the same as me. MAC is a lovely brand and they do have some great products but it is not the only makeup brand on the planet!
I have a friend who is so shallow when it comes to brand names, clothes, makeup, shoes, you name it and if she has even one product from that brand, she'll flaunt it. She told me that she doesn't touch her MAC products because she doesn't want to use them up... what's the point in having them then? To keep on her makeup table to look pretty. Hmm.
I'm a firm believer that you can get amazing drugstore products too, or just other high end brands. I love INGLOT to pieces, their eyeshadows are a bazillion times better than MAC.

I love MAC but I use a lot more other brands. If someone chooses to only just use MAC products then that's their prerogative though.

This was a really interesting article. I'm like most other people, i love some MAC products but i have other brands that i love too. I think you have to mix it up and find what's best for you regardless of the brand.

In the last few years I have branched out from the MAC and found out there is a huge difference and I still love MAC but its not the only brand

BTW - MAC's makeup is made in the same factory as Origin, Smashbox and a few other lines by Estée Lauder. I know Christine (Temptalia) posted how she saw them make Origins lipstick in the same place as MAC lipstick.

I LOVED MAC cause of all the eyeshadow color options. But when I really got involved in Makeup and a lot more research. I have branched out to trying a bunch of different brands. I no longer buy MAC eyeshadows. I go for quality, quantity and that is cost efficient for me as a freelancer.

Thank you for posting this! The amount of times i have heard "i only use mac" is ridiculous! I think that some people need to be open minded and take a chance, there are tons of amazing makeup brands out there!

This is an article that I found very interesting and not at all shocked about. So many people are Mac this and Mac that and that's cool and all but there are a lot of products that come from Mac that I feel are not all of that. I have my must have products that I do love and enjoy from Mac but as far as tryin to purchase evey product that Mac make, I don't think so. I will go to Walmart in a minute and purchase me some Revlon, black radiance and so on. My ideal of a good makeup artist is someone who uses different name brand products and who can introduce new name products no just one name brand. Even Mac top artist don't use just Mac products only, they have their favorites. But I guess everybody likes what they like.

@Mandy, I am with you! When it comes to eyeshadow I only purchase the colors that I really like and have not seen before not saying the color is not out there I just haven't seen it at the time. And now that you can back to Mac for an eyeshadow I usually wait.

Im glad someone wrote about this too. I do not personally dislike MAC, yes i love them and have them. I agree with Yasmin that a true MUA uses everything they can. It doesn't have to be MAC all the time, what's important is the product does it what it is suppose to do. I had those same type clients too! There is a lot of MUA tried & tested products out there! And they also charge for the Pro Card. :( Others do not.

awesome article. i don't hate mac either but i feel like the brand is so ridiculously over hyped that i'm almost a little disgusted by it? i don't find a lot of the shadows to be as pigmented as people talk them up to be (i own about 9 and i barely touch them). i reach much more for my ELF eyeshadows. theres nothing wrong with being a die-hard mac fan but you should always try to branch out! i just hit major pan on my golden bronzer from them and took a good look at the site and decided i didnt want to spend $23 on a new one, and ended up finding an amazing one from NYC for like $2.50. i feel like now there are so many shades that are dupe-able from mac that its hardly worth it anymore to me

I like MAC, but I dont LOVE it. Some people find MAC as their comfort zone. Im not a hypocrite when it comes to makeup, I would buy anything that looks pretty in a heartbeat lol, a lot of drugstore products are almost the same quality as MAC, if not better.
