Does using a face primer make a big difference with how your makeup looks or feels? im currently not using one. Wondering if i should...

I also have acne prone skin.

HELP!

not in my opinion. i've tried quite a bit, none of them seem to make the foundation last any longer or look any better

Some face primers do make a difference. It makes your foundation glide on and it looks alot smoother. It makes your pores appear smaller. There are matti ting primers that keep oil at bay so that your foundation lasts longer.

I usually only wear a primer for special occasions or when I know I'm going to be out and about the whole day or night because it makes my foundation last longer. For everyday though I skip it...I work in an office so I don't really move around much and my makeup stays put all day anyway. And I find that most primers break me out so I don't think I could wear them everyday =p

If you have acne prone skin you need a primer without silicones because they are known to cause break outs.

aah thanks Amanda! I'm almost out of my current primer so I'll have to research some non-silicone primers to use. My forehead is very acne-prone.

I wear it everyday because it smooths over all my imperfections. I don't notice such a difference in how long my foundation lasts, but it definitely makes makeup go on smoother over blemishes and scars.

I use to wear a primer, not because it makes my makeup last longer, but because it makes it go on smoother. I have dry skin (except on my t-zone) and sometimes it's a little bit flakey, and then a primer really helps to make my foundation look better. I use the e.l.f. Mineral Infused Face Primer, and to me, that one feels just like the super hyped one by Smashbox ;)

Yes! I agree with Amanda!! Not only does it help with make up application, it helps as a being a barrier. Just like Amanda says, pick a primer without silicones. That way if your foundation has silicones, the primer can act as a barrier to the silicone in your foundation. This will help with breakouts. (got this tip from Mandy K.)

Most foundations have silicones. Silicones are what helps a foundation, concealor, or even primers/moisturizers "glide" on our skin when applying them. So make sure to use a moisturizer and primer without silicones.

I believe it does, absolutely. I have acne prone skin as well and I use a green tinted Smashbox primer to cancel out the red tones. It works wonders, after the red tones are masked I find that my concealer and foundation are more effective. It really does help keep my makeup in place longer and give a more finished result. But with the amount of redness I have to work with, I absolutely recommend a green tinted primer above all else.
