My hair is so flat. I use to switch in between shampoos and it helped lift my hair but lately it hasn't been doing me any favors. I need help. My growing out bangs are deadflat, thinning and lifeless.
Natural remedies are preferred but if you have any over the counter products you can recommend that would be helpful also.
Thanks. ;)

I have super flat hair too and I try to not use conditioner and i wash my hair with Lush Cosmetics' BIG shampoo which is lovely and when my hair is half dry, i spritz some Bumble&Bumble Surf Spray to my roots then fully dry my hair with a hairdryer upside down. Sorry I don't have any natural remedies, but both of these products are really good for volumising :) x

Try Living Proof's Full Thickening Cream or Root Lifting Spray if you have thin hair. Both are AMAZING and totally work.
They actually put thin, non-voluminous hair under a microscope and compared it to thicker hair that can hold volume well. The difference was that the hair that can get volume had more "texture" to the hair, not necessarily a wider or thicker hair BAND. What the Full line from Living Proof does, is it actually adds "texture bumps" to the hair, as opposed to coating the entire hair. So the funny thing is, the more you touch it, the more air flows through the "texture bumps" and adds more volume and lift, without feeling heavy or greasy. AND your hair will smell AMAZING.

Of course. And there's a mini one available for like $10 I think just to try it. I had the mini one and it still lasted me a while and I think my hair's a lot longer than yours so worth a shot! :)

You definatley have much easier ways to volumize your hair.. I would suggest straightening your hair upside-down. I know it sounds wierd, but then let it "cool down" upside-down as well. If you dont want to bend over for however long it takes to straighten your hair, you can always hold the piece of hair straight up and then straighten it from the root to the tip! Hope that helps! ~Ashley

Dry shampoo can really volumize your hair! Just spray some on, rub it in and your hair should get more volume! I do that often and it really works for me! :)

Use a volumizing shampoo (Hempz has a nice one). Also, You can buy root boosters also, Big Sexy hair has one, Paul Mitchell has one ( Extra-Body root booster), theres one that i have which i cant remember the name of, but when i get home i can check and let you know. There is also root lifting powder youcan get,big sexy hair has one, and Got2B has one. My best friend has really limp thin hair, that doesnt do much, but i put Paul mitchell super skinny (shine serum) in her hair, dry most of it so its damp, spray some root booster on her roots, all over, and finish blow drying lifting the hair and the roots, she then bends over so her heads upside down and she blow dries it for a minute like that, then i finish blow drying it till its dry. I comb it out, and I section it, and sprinkle some of the powder on her roots, rub it in and give it a little back comb (you can skip this step, but it helps keep some volume).

I like to use root lifters to increase the volume of my hair...right now I'm using redken's layer lift and I love it but I've also used the john frieda one from walgreens and liked that one as well.

Velcro rollers! Put about 2-4 rollers in your hair after you've just blow dried your hair and let them sit while your getting ready. When you can blow dry it a bit just to add a bit of heat for a faster result. When you take them out you will see that you have a ton of volume at the crown of your head. I love doing this on days that I don't curl my hair. For me since I have really thick hair I have to do a bit of teasing and a ton of hair spray haha.

When shopping for volumizing shampoos/conditioners/products make sure they have pathogen in the ingrediants, that is like botax to hair and creates amazing volume. What I have used was Paul Mitchells Extra Body shampoo and conditioner along with their Thicken Up Product OR what works wonders is the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Lemon Sage Root Thickening Spray

Drying your hair the right way can give you SOOO much volume. When you dry your hair place your brush at the roots and curl the brush away, blowing the hair downwards against the edge of the brush. Sometimes I accidently give myself too much volume. It's hard to explain. I'm working on a video so I can actually show it.
Also, if you take a shower the night before and put your hair in a high bun, you'll get lots of volume as well. Iilt your hair down and comb all your hair downwards. Twist it into a bun and you're good to go. The high bun keeps it from irritating you while you sleep and your hair will dry upwards and after a while, your roots will start to naturally go upwards as well.

I use Rusk Thickr hairspray while my hair is still wet then blow dry and spray it on again while lifting my hair and letting my hair fall while I'm spraying the hairspray. My hair dresser taught me that trick and it works. :-)
