Also I learned waxing in school. they tought us 3 weeks after your last shave. also make sure you refrain from hot showers and anything that would cause sweating for like thr first day also make sure you exfoliate. that keeos from getting ingrown hairs after your wax.

Try shaving with an oil like grapeseed and add a lil bit of teatree oil.

I'd suggest a bikini wax at European wax center. Their wax is amazing and very gentle on skin. Ask for a waxer that has at LEAST 1.5 year wax experience and she should walk you through the process. It's never painless but the results are fabulous and much less irritating then shaving.

Does anyone know how long the hair has to be to get a bikini wax? I am a regular shaver and I'd like to try it, but I have heard the hair has to be pretty long for a wax to work and I don't know if I'm comfortable with that haha

I have terrible razorburn all over my bikini area at all times -_- I'd totally hop onto waxing, I'm not afraid of pain at all but...what is the waxing experience like? are you completely naked for them to see all of your insides..or can you wear a thong or something? >_>

I use an Epilator. A good one can be expensive but they save money in the long run and last years!

It's fast and using cream after it's as good as waxing :)

I Went for laser hair removal..... I have super sensitive skin and hair from hell, with that said shaving everyday was a horror. i too used to get those razor bumps all over my bikini area and horrible ingrown hairs that would get infected.. I tried waxing... I have never experienced pain like that, and my pores would bleed. the crazy part is that when i tried the Brazilian down there it didnt hurt as bad as it did everywhere else, But i would get ingrown hairs deep in my skin and also on the surface they looked like they were glued to my skin :( Ive used TENDSKIN and that would just burn the hell out of me.. Oh after shaving i couldn't apply anything on my skin because it would just irritate me and also help the ingrown hairs. I've tried nair and it didnt do anything on my coarse hair, also tried the electric razor and same. also tried the electric depilatory thingy and it hurt to high heaven and gave me the same results as waxing.. pain and ingrown hair..

so with this horror story i tell everyone to save and go for laser hair removal. It may seem costly but is worth every penny..

There is a product called TendSkin that is used for razor burn and it is actually the only thing that has ever worked for me. You can buy it online and Ulta also sells it, but it's a great product. I have a very sensitive "area" also and tried many products, and this has done wonders for me.

Hey,
My bikini area skin is SUPER sensitive so after suffering enough from razor burn & bumps, I decided to get laser hair removal. If you want to know more about my experience check out my blog post about it http://elbeautyspot.blogspot.com/2012/02/my-experience-with-laser-hair-removal.html
If you have any questions feel free to message me or post a comment on my blog :)

make sure to also shave in direction of the hair, not against it- it's less irritating and less likely to cause ingrown hairs
PS- i'm glad no one has felt inclined to use the "attach a photo" feature lol

Waxing is painful and you never really get used to it. Finding a good aesthetician is key and I've been to good ones and one terrible one. However, the 20 or so minutes of pain is worth it's weight in gold!

I used an epilator, but to be honest it resulted in ingrown hairs! On my legs and bikini area! Actually stopped using it cause the bumps on my legs were looking gross! For those of you that do use one......do u have the same problem or have u found something to help stop/treat ingrowns??? I got the Braun one.....and it was quite expensive in South Africa.....so any help or advise would be GREAT!

And Kayla....the first wax is sore cause your not sure what to expect.....but in that same sitting....you kinda get used to it! To me the horrid part is opening your legs LOL!  X

You get used to it fast, well I did anyway. The more you have it done, the less it hurts. I got sick and tired of going back to the salon so I now shave at home, with a clean razor & use 'Coochy' shaving cream (smells awesome!) by Pure Romance, which I use under my arms, legs etc. Very smooth & no red bumps.

Ive done waxing before but it really just isn't for me. So for years I've been using this product called Coochy Cream. Yes thats really its name, lol. Its pretty much a shaving cream that lathers into a thick almost conditioner like feel. I swear by it, a shop I used to work in sold it and we could never keep it in stock.

For the razor burn, i use organic shaving cream, and also after you shave people say to put lotion on your legs, but i found that it burns, really badly! But I also found out that when you use unscented lotion, it is just fine! i use banana boats after sun lotion because it has aloe and vitamin E in it as well!

For a long time, I used those little premade wax strip papers and they worked perfectly for my "bikini area." You just have to clean with oil instead of soap, because only oils take away the stickiness. It's much cheaper and less embarrassing than getting it done professionally.

Last month I just got an epilator, and like Heather said, it's like waxing but better. I'm still figuring it out for my legs, but for my "bikini area" and armpits, I'll be using it forever!

For razor burn, have you ever tried Visine? Any eye drops will work.

I use an epilator. I prefer it over waxing because as soon as I notice hairs I can just whip it out my drawer and remove the hairs...no need to wait until hairs are long enough.

Arie- I have the same issue as you. I feel like my skin is somewhat sensitive on my legs and I get razorburn very easy. I have used shving cream for sensitive skin called coochy...the only place I have seen it at is lingerie stores...or stores that strippers get there outfits from but whatever it works great! It looks like conditioner and you do not need to use much of the product at all! I also use mens razors because I feel like they give a closer shave. then after im finished shaving I use a medicated lotion that is ment to reduce razor burn. it stings for a second but it does help with the little bumps!

Use an electric razor. Sure it does not last as long as waxing and shaving, but it's a lot less painful and does not cause irritation. Remmington makes a great women's one that comes with different extensions. It even includes one for your eyebrows. Cheap too, less than $20.

I just recently got a brazilian wax and even though it was sore and red for the first two days or so, I think it's SO worth it! I plan on getting them regularly now if my bank account allows... lol.

Lol, it's fine! And I have combonation skin, generally. I've used a few different shave gels, and it's been the same. Then I tried using a burts bees soap because it was natural and unscented, and it was the same results. My skin just hates not having hair, lol!

And Kayla- I have never gotten a tattoo and i hear that hurts like hell so I'm sure that you can tolerate waxing LOL
