I think they're fine.
1) it doesn't leave a lasting effect on the kids. Sure - it may hurt for 2 seconds, but it's not that bad.
2) if the child decides they don't want it later on - they can just take off their earrings and have it close up
I don't see the point in opposing it. A lot of the arguments I see on the other side point to "I don't like it"

I think you should wait because what If your child doesn't want his or her ears pierced? By the time they are old enough to decide the hole will have already permanently set. It won't close up after about six months to a year.

I'm not against it, but personally I wouldn't pierce my children's ears unless they asked me to. First off, ears can easily become infected and I feel that when I'm a mother I will have enough to worry about. Why add something else to my list of responsibilities? Also, I too feel it's the.child's choice. Sure if they decide they don't want earrings they can take them out, but why not wait until they make their own decision? I'm not against it, but it's not my preference.(:

Its fine. I was probably 1 or 2 years old when I got my ears pierced my momma said and as a young girl I felt really girly with my earrings on. I think its normal to pierce babies ears. Only girls of course. And they don't get infected if you go get them professionally done.

I had my ears pierced when I was 11 and only wore earrings until they healed. Now I rarely wear them ever.and my holes have NEVER closed. Everyone is different.

Even getting them professionally done there is still chance of infection. You have to constantly clean them until they're healed. That's why I think it's best to wait until a child is able to take care of them herself.

I personally think its okay and better because when the babies are bigger it won't hurt because their ears are already pierced

My daughter has her ears pierced. She cried very little, like 5 seconds tops. Nothing close to infection, it was very easy. And if she doesn't want it later she can take it out. If they get it pierced later it's way easier to close up. Doing it early lets it last if they decide to keep wearing them, and if not it only just takes longer to close up I think.

I had my ears pierced at 6months then maybe around 8years old and I got them pierced again almost a year ago, I love it for when I have to wear a dress somewhere and need something to match. If your child doesn't like when their older they don't have to wear them but most likely they will like it

It doesn't bother me that other parents do that, but I personally wouldn't do that for my child. Body modifications are their own choice to make, when they're older.

My mom waited until I was 6 until she got my done and I was glad because that got me more involved in picking out the earring I wanted and I loved it.

I got mine done when I was a baby and I think it's fine. The baby isn't going to even remember the pain from getting it pierced.

I couldnt even imagin why people get their babies ears peirced.. I have a little girl, shes two. When she can turn around to me and say I want my ears peirced I will take her but I couldnt inflicked pain on my child for facion, even if it isnt a GREAT amount. I just don't think its right. But thats just my opinion :)

I got mine pierced when I was a newborn so it wasn't that bad because at that age most babies don't get too much pain from. They just make a noise for like two seconds and its done.
