For those of you who haven't watched it;
Face Off is a reality TV show where 12 people compete against one another
in various makeup challenges (prosthetics, character design, body painting, etc) for the chance to win $100,000 & 1 years supply of makeup (each season has different prizes)
The show is judged by the amazing Patrick Tatopoulos, Ve Neill & Glenn Hetrick.
It's definitely worth watching :)

It's honestly the best thing I've ever discovered! Makes me want to do special effects even more!

I used to watch it but as someone who went to school for special effects I often find it disappointing. They don't really give real or true insight as to what its like to be an effects artist. And while there are very talented people there (some who went to the same school as me), it isn't realistic at all. They would never have just a few days to sculpt and mold any appliances. That kind of thing takes weeks, sometimes months depending on the complexity. Some people ARE good enough they can do it in a few days if they work nonstop, but it's not a common thing by any means. I know it isn't supposed to be completely realistic because after all it is reality TV, but it still sort of rubs me the wrong way that they show it to be this quick process when it isn't. I think its deceiving and gives people the wrong idea. It's not something that is done overnight and I wish they wouldn't make it seem so. The other thing that really annoys me is they always send the really good makeups that I want to see to the back room and then just show and pick apart the worst ones. I guess that's supposed to add drama or tension but I'd rather see the really good makeups. There are some makeups I've seen that I can't believe they've won in comparison to others that are just "safe." I don't feel like they appreciate the right aspects of it at all. But I suppose that's the reality TV effect. I don't mean to be a bummer but as the show has gone on I'm always just more disappointed.

I've only seen the first 2 seasons but I think it's pretty awesome.
Some of it's a bit annoying, like the bitchiness between the girls and all the drama.
Also I think Glenn Hetrick is a bit of an asshole, you never know what he's going to say and it annoys me how he acts like he hates it to add tension to the show, then turns around and says it's good. It just really annoys me.
I absolutely adored Tate's post-apocalyptic Red Riding Hood in season 1, I really think that should have won.
Also I love love loved Matt's ice cream monster & RJ's bellhop, they were probably my favourite looks from season 2.
