If anyone works for MAC, Sephora, or ULTA; what are your tips to scoring a job there. At the moment I work at a doctor's office and I decided to be more proactive in doing makeup. I applied to ULTA online, still haven't heard any responses yet. I haven't applied to Sephora and MAC (counter not store) as of yet. What should I do? Are there other places I could work at in Los Angeles that does not require a certification?

@alma For ulta no I did not attach a portfolio because it was just a job for stocking/inventory.
@Dominique: I know! that's why I think it's really hard because there is more mua's than there is a demand for them. So I figure I should work from the bottom up because I'm an introvert. I have a feel for makeup though lol. Thanks you two for responding it gave me some ish to think about. :)

You can start doing makeup through Mary Kay! It is so much fun there is no certification to qualify besides being 18 plus you make your own hours! There are many opportunities to give back, make money and win prizes! The product sells itself because it is literally one of the top rated brands out right now trust me I did my research. Rethink those commercial products that are ridiculously priced and put out only to make a dollar. Making your own hours will allow you to stay flexible should there be any changes to your current schedule and get you 50% off any products you want for yourself. As an Independent Beauty Consultant the possibilities are endless but you have to want it! For more info visit my website www.marykay.com/DinthePink.

Also, try Macy's, Dillard's and the Bon-Ton stores (Younkers, Boston Store, etc) and any other department stores with makeup counters. They tend to be a little less picky. Be prepared to not pick your counter (you might end up an Elizabeth Arden rep) but its a start!
