I'm thinking about enrolling into the beauty academy at home. What's it like? Would love to hear any and all experiences! Thanks(:

I absolutely love it! I'm 6 months in. sometimes it feels like highschool all over again with the hours and it being an everyday thing but if you passionate about hair nails etc... then it is worth it and it is rewarding.

That's the impression I got too. I've been to the beauty school already like if I want a trim or something basic done to my hair. so much cheaper! But the more I think about it the more I want to go!

How long does it take to graduate? And is there a licensing exam for every state? Like say I graduate at home but later on move to another state...will I have to test again?

Haha no you shouldn't have to retest. But I'm not 100% sure. I have my deposit down at Vogue. :) Can't wait to start going. The hours are different depending on what you're going for and where you live. Where I live it's 1,500 hours for cosmetology (which includes hair, nails, etc). I'm also going to be taking esthetics at Vogue after cosmetology which is 700 hours and goes more in depth with skin care, massage, etc.

I absolutely loved every day of it. and every single day I go to work now I love it. if you move to other states and haven't had your license long they may require you to take more school or retest. for instance in louisiana I'm only required 1500 hours but some states require 1800 so they might make you take 300 depending on time you've had it. I always tell people you will get out of it what yiu put in. if you barely go and don't put your all into it then you will end up in some crappy salon you will hate. but if you do every extra class you can and absorb all the knowledge everyone can offer you then you will be able to choose from lots of amazing places and fields to work.
