How do I curl my hair with a flat iron?!

So I got a 1-inch Remington ceramic flat iron so that I can try curling my hair with it. Someone curled my hair with a flat iron before and it turned out beautifully -- perfect, long lasting waves.

For some reason, I cannot for the life of me get my hair to curl this way… I've tried watching several tutorials on YouTube but it doesn't work! Sometimes I will get a perfect curl, but usually they end up uneven and flat at the top. It's so frustrating! I am thinking it's not the flat iron's fault because I have been able to get a decent curl out of it a few times.

Anyone have any suggestions?

You wrap your hair around outside, prolly best to watch a you tube video

Have you tried keeping the flat iron at the roots a little longer? and then slide down slowly. Another thing is that you shouldn't touch your hair until it has set up...has to cool down. I wait maybe 5-10 minutes after the hair doesn't feel too hot any more...then spray a little (I like to put it in my hands and just toss my hair).

I like to make sure I seen toon my hair vertically, so the ends don't get too wide...horizontal sections make me look like a big frizz ball!!

Hope this makes sense!!

Good advice, guys! Ummm, I guess what I have problems with is how to angle the flat iron and how to twist my hand.

Twist sections of your hair then hold the iron on them.
