Hi lovelies,

My name is Dominique. Recently I gotten into what I believe is my God given passion,MAKEUP!! I've have such a big collection of makeup, brushes, etc. Some days, my practice sessions with makeup are amazing, while others, they are not so good. I would like feedback from other aspiring MUA's on tips to become a professional MUA. Again, I'm really passionate about makeup. I want to hear your experience's with makeup!!

Hey Dominique, well as for myself being a free lance artist has its challenges especially now more than ever ,since so many are now interested in makeup, hair, fashion ect.Its all about your work, what makes you different from the rest and also word of mouth. Its not easy out there so much competition and business has its ups & downs.you can have a passion for makeup but you have to have a relationship with it lol its an all around business, learn & keep learning.Skill after skill products after products.we all have different technics with are skills so always keep an open mind.I loveit,I always say Foundation runs through my veins ;-) Since I was a kid practice every look from a magazine and just had fun with it.I thought it was all raw talent teaching myself reading books and looking at pics.I'm sure you will be great just go for it.

Thank you Alma, you know I really understand having a "relationship" with my makeup and I had to grow to it, but let's just say I plan on keeping this relationship strong and healthy lol. thank you so much for your kind words and motivation. I will definitely continue my journey and uniquely establish myself as a MUA, by being ME!! Again, thanks so much

"soak it all in like a foundation sponge" - greatest advice ever! Good luck Dominique! This year I decided to follow my dreams in makeup and its true what Alma is saying. Pursue it because you love makeup and helping people feel beautiful. Keep learning and be open to every opportunity to be creative. It's not cheap to get started :) so build your kit gradually. All the best to you!

I would suggest getting a job at a makeup counter so that you have daily practice and access to different skin tones and textures of clients who come in. Then look up local working artist to see if they need assistants, etc. you may end up doing a lot for free before you start making money. You also meed to know how to keep the items in your kit clean, sanitary practices and purchase disposables. A lot goes in to getting started. It can be a lot of.out of pocket to get going. If you have any other questions, just let me know.
