I have eczema, which is a hereditary, non-contagious skin disease. I have tried everything to make the rashes to go away. Prescribed ointments, oatmeal lotions, etc.
I can't afford to go to a dermatologist and my medical insurance has been screwed up, so I can't go to the doctor now.

Does anyone have any remedies or products that help eczema?

Unfortunately I find only steroid creams provided by your doctor help these skin rashes. I suffer from dermatitis, which is similar to eczeme. For me nothing seems to work. However, to reduce some of the itch and redness I apply an ice pack to my skin. It seems to be the only thing that works. I have also done some research and you can try applying "Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil" or "Emu Oil" to the rash. You can find these in a natural health food store. I made a post about natural skin remedies so take a look at it, it has descriptions on each product.

Yeah I agree steroids are very harsh on your skin. When I get an extremely inflamed and itchy rash that's when I use them. You also need to get one that not very strong. My rashes come back a lot and I've never had any insanely serious rebounds to what I previously had. I have heard that about wheat, many people these days are allergic to "gluten". I would suggest you get tested for the allergy first before you cut it out of your diet. I was told by a naturalpath that I was allergic to gluten. I cut it out of my diet and it made no difference and made me horribly sick. Cutting a huge thing out of your system is a major shock to your body and can have horrible effects. Don't deprive your body on what it needs. Go to an allergist and have them test you for certain things.

Do you drink/eat lots of dairy products, my brother has eczema and his doctor told him to lay off the dairy, there's lots of things that make it worse, he uses aveeno which is good because it stops the itching , try this website for causes that could be making you're eczema flare up , http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Eczema-Triggers-and-Irritants.htm.

Well wheat it gluten lol which is why I said gluten free. All wheat products contain a high percentage of gluten protein. And yeah I guess the testing is expensive depending on where you live. In Canada it's all free. I went to the doctor and was sent to an allergist within a month. Other countries really need to get free healthcare. I was just basically saying, a diet change can really effect the body to extremes. That's why I would suggest getting a test done first because it can cause health risks.

Have you ever tried eucerin cream?! You can find it at a local drug store. I have eczema too. Not very severe but I use eucerin cream, not lotion cream. Hope it helps!

Sorry I spelt it wrong. It's cortizone.10 and you can get it I think anywhere.

My eczema is very bad on my hands. I'm not into the steroid creams at all. I use a pine tar soap. Sounds gross but it has really helped more than anything I got it at a health food store.

Don't itch! Don't scratch your skin open. Everytime you do that your skin has to heal all over again. I use to have eczema when I was youger for years and years. You really have to take care for your skin with love. Keeping your skin moisturized is really important and make sure you put on your ointment everyday. When it itches you could put on an icepack on your skin or just take something cold out of your freezer. Or take a cold shower. Don't shower with soaps. Use soap without perfume or alcohol in it.

I had EXTREMELY bad eczema (and still do if I don't watch out). It was everywhere: face, back, chest, stomach, arms, legs, etc… my derm told me to use moisturizers like Aquaphor, Cetaphil, or Cerave. She also gave me a cream (I hate the consistency of ointment) that was cortisone cream that should be higher than a potency of 2.5%. Also be careful of products you use on your skin because this can cause inflammation (perfumes, body washes, etc…) my skin is quite sensitive so it started to react to laundry detergent! Good luck :)

Hey there have you tried Aveeno lotion I got given that by my GP and it works wonders on my eczema skin. Apply it before bed so it moisturises your skin during the night x
