Hi beauties, so I've been researching on the affects mineral powders, blush powders, & loose bronzer powders has on us. Instead of using mineral powder use a liquid foundation. Instead of using a loose blush powder please use a cream blush. Why am I saying all of this? Well, because if you continue to use loose powder make up on your face you are inhaling the powder & it travels all the way into your lungs. It can cause cancer, asthma, & other serious health problems. Not to mention once you inhale the product, there is no way to internally take out the powder that is filled in your lungs already. It's not safe to inhale mineral powder. I have stopped using mineral powder & loose blush & bronzers for good. I know many of you might not want to stop using these products but your health is way more important. Thank you all.

Depends on what products you use. it depends on the ingredients. if you are willing to change products for what you inhale what about what is absorbed into your skin??

Well, that's what cleansing & exfoliating is for. At least you can wash the foundation off, but you cannot get that powder out of your lungs once it is inhaled. Use paraben-free makeup. Nuance Salma Hayek's skin care & makeup line contains mostly organic, natural ingredients.

Tarte is a great all natural cosmetic line as well. I love all of the products I have.

You also can't get out what goes into your blood stream from being absorbed into your body from your skin. I've read it only takes 26 seconds.

And there are way more troubling ingredients out there than just parabens. Also you inhale fragrances if you use any and that can contain thousands of chemicals. The more you know..

A lot of things are harmful to our health but no makeup artist or any girl is going to stop wearing makeup. The least we can do is switch to more healthier makeup. There are a lot of makeup lines that use mostly organic ingredients. We can all help educate each other. Thanks for posting doll. :)

The particles in some mineral and loose powder make up can contain nano sized particles.

It's mainly zinc and titanium dioxide.
Always check ewg.org or Paula's choice (beautypedia) to check. Awesome sites

Thanks for the tip Miriam :) I do think that we may have worse beauty habits than that but why not change something for the better when we can? I will definitely do more research on this, maybe if I get the consequences I'll post them here :)

Completely agree with Marilyn, Maggie, and Missy on everything they said. Also on the doctor oz note, over half the stuff he's said on his show (and oprah) have been proven wrong, personally he is not someone I would choose to put faith into what he says, just me though. Just be selective with which products you use (as you should be anyways). Oh and on the cancer part it can't just magically give you cancer, you must already have the cancerous cell in your body, and it could maybe trigger it (along with several other things being able to), though sadly you can't know if you have that cell before hand, so not worth testing but yeah, you can't live your life in fear, especially when so many other things would trigger it before the makeup.

Dr Oz is a fear monger...he scares the shit out of the naive house wives of America so that they run out and buy the latest greatest anti aging free radical fighting proper kid raising diaper changing house disinfecting husband pleasing product he's pushing...research the things from his show...a lot of it is HIS OPINION not fact
I agree mineral makeup shouldn't be inhaled...but we breath in every product we use that's powder or liquid...so don't start freaking out thinking your going to drop dead tomorrow

Hahahaha, Tiffany, I love you! I completely agree on all you said.

It is eye opening...the mineral powder info...I don't mean to sound like a total pessimist, but, um, almost EVERYTHING is unsafe/said to cause cancer/unhealthy. I never thought of the mineral powder being inhaled like that. I use maybelline mineral power foundation (I like it) but how many other things am I exposed to out there? By all means, switch to liquid or whatever and use the most organic cosmetic lines, but I don't think anything is truly safe anymore. I didn't intend to direct this to anyone so don't take it like that :) I'm both a liquid and mineral foundation user. Bottom line is I'm fond of both and I think there's a whole lot more out there that can and has affected my health.

Thank you Megan! I totally understand with what you are saying. I just think that making small changes in our lives can hugely impact our lives for the better.:) We are exposed to so many toxic things in this world that it's impossible to be in control of every little thing. That's why I try to make small changes so my health is not on the line one day.
