Make sure to exfoliate beforehand. Many scrubs are oil based and I've found they tend to create a barrier against your skin and the tan. While it's good to be moisturized, don't use the oil based scrubs if you can help it. You can't go wrong with the St. Ives apricot scrub. I use my hands to apply it but you can use latex gloves, too. Make sure to wash your hands well as soon as your done. Try not to get the tops of your hands wet and keep your fingers pointed down so it doesn't run on the top of your hands. Apply the lotion from your feet and go up so you don't get any lines on your torso from bending forward having done it backwards. Apply at bedtime and do it about 2-3 nights in a row to get your desired color! Exfoliate every 4 or 5 days and start over. :)
