If your nail polish gets thick in the bottle you add acetone to thin it? I swear I've seen them do it at the nail place but I'm not 100% sure.

Acetone might dry it out. I bought Nail polish thinner from sallys.

NO. In the long-run you'll destroy the polish. Seche makes a great polish thinner! Cheap and works really well!

Also, it can be used in their awesome quick dry top coat which is famous for getting really thick before you can make it to the bottom.

I just use a thinner to correct the problem. Acetone just messes with the formula and then you lose the color quality. Nail salons add acetone to cut corners instead of just using a thinner which is more expensive than the thinner.

I am going to Sally's soon...

I agree with Sara and Shelley! Acetone is the worst thing to use to thin out your nail polish...especially if you want to keep them! It will break down the polish (since it is the main ingredient in most nail polish removers). Thinner is the best way to Ho since it will restore the solvents that are evaporating from the polish.
Better yet: find a thinner made by the brand if nail polish you own the most of (if you use Seche Vite...use Seche Restore) since it's made for that formula! I know it can get expensive...but I'd rather invest than replace an awesome color!!

Once in a while it won't hurt if you don't have a nail polish thinner with you.. I haven't had a prob with it though.. I've never bought a nail polish thinner so I've used my acetone but very little and works for me.

I heard that thinning it with acetone makes it chip. I am not sure if sealing it with a top coat helps...as I have not done this. I was watching the Katie show and she said sometimes the salons will thin the polish, thus causing it to not last long (like 2 days or so). If you do get your nails done, bring your own polish, but don't leave it there!

Lol good to know Rita! It may be true.. But in that sense they would be losing money because I wouldn't go to the place that my nails chipped the next day? Well maybe I would haha.. Good point to bring your own:)

No no acetone makes the polish discoloration always use polish thiner or even a little bit of paint thinner.

I use polish thinner instead. And I use to buy some better polish in order to lengthen the period so that the nail polish won't be dry up so fast. OPI is quite good in this and I find this blog very useful for your comparison: http://100review.com/best-10-nail-polish-review/
