I've stripped mine before. To tell you the truth it didn't damage my hair as much as everyone says it does. It did turn out the uglies color of orange but I dyed my hair the color I wanted about an hour after, which is another thing people say not to do, but it looked completely fine.

Here is a before and after. My hair doesn't feel damaged at all. However, I have fine hair that is also extremely thick (if that makes sense), and I take extremely good care of my hair (I only use salon products and high end flat irons). So keep that in mind. I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. I would definitely go to a professional.

I've stripperd mine a few times and have done mates hair aswell using the box stripper you can get and tbh it really barely damages your hair at all. There's no ammonia or peroxide in it so it's a hell of a lot better than bleaching, just make sure you follow the instructions. The way it works is it shrinks the colour particles in your hair so that when you wash it with the special shampoo it opens up the hair cuticles and allows the colour particles to come right out =] I'd definitely recommend using that rather than bleach =]
