OK so I have dandruff... not a huge amount. And I wrap my hair At night, but today, my dandruff started to show, which made my hair look dirty. however I'm not going to wash it until Thursday, because I washed it last Thursday ((a week ago)). I wash my hair every week ((I'm African American )). so it's not like I don't keep it clean...is it a way to like lessen the dandruff? without shampoo, And all that.

Olive oil is the best remedy. Massage it into your scalp and cover your head with a plastic bag or anything of that sort, as long as air doesn't get in. Leave in for twenty minutes, then wash your hair out with shampoo.

Apple cider vinegar is good. you could apply it to you scalp the night before you shower or the day of and just leave it in for 30 minutes before washing. a better smelling method is coconut oil and apply the same as I mentioned above.

The question is, do you actually have dandruff or do you just have dry scalp? Dandruff is caused by a bacteria(I don't remember the exact name of said bacteria) on your skin becoming out of control. Washing your hair more often can help with mild cases, but more difficult cases you will needed a medicated dandruff shampoo. And if you have dry scalp you just have dry flakes of skin on your scalp that flake off into your hair. I have dry scalp, there really isn't a whole lot you can do for it, or at least for me. If I were to put something on my scalp for it, it would just make my hair oily. And it isn't too horrible, so I just use a fine tooth comb to comb out any flakes that can be seen.

Dandruff is often the result of skin growing at a rate that varies from one's natural ability to shed the skin.
(We all shed and regrow skin cells every day so it's perfectly normal.) When the skin reproduces cells at a rate more rapid than it sheds, this results in scales building up..and naturally flaking off as nature takes it course. This is also applicable to psoriasis, which is why the result is patches; It's often hereditary.
Tea Tree Oil reduces itching and irritation and soothes. Selsun Blue addresses the issue of scales that have built up. If you have visible patches on your scalp, I'd see a derm as you may have psoriasis or eczema. Neosporin and Scalpacin are both over the counter treatments (liquid) that you apply on your scalp after exiting the shower, when the flesh is most receptive to the medication. You may want to give that a try if the shampoos don't produce results.
