I just wanted to state my opinion.. & I feel like I'm the only one out there that thinks this, so let me know if you think the same as me but.. I am going to be a freshman this year (WOOP first year of high school!!)
But anyways, I always see posts on these talk forums asking what an 8th grader, 7th, maybe 9th but they all say its better not to ad stuff. I understand that we are young and it may damage our face cause wrinkles and such.. But I just don't like the fact that some people look down on teens for wearing makeup. Specifically Asian culture. A person can sometimes portray someone's I guess "character" but I always feel judged. I admit I wear a lot of makeup not because I'm insecure with my bare face. I go out in public with no makeup, no problem. In front of friends and people at school too. But I just love doing makeup and makeup in general. The feeling of completing my face, & I know I'm beautiful with or without. But it's my choice to wear it. But people actually call me names for wearing I guess "a lot" of makeup. (At least to "younger" & "older" people).
I just wanted to say that.

Makeup can portray a persons "character" maybe I meant***

I totally agree with you Sharon, I could get away with not wearing makeup as I don't have "terribly" bad skin but I just love doing makeup and without I feel like a bare canvas waiting to be painted on , hopefully in the future society changes and people are much more empathetic about young girls wearing makeup, how old are you because I have no idea what "freshman" means as I am from the uk;)x

@charlotte - soon to be 15! 9th grader! Thank youu, I thought I was alone with this opinion! I really appreciate it when people say "you look prettier without makeup." But sometimes I can't help but feel upset cause its kind of like saying "you don't look as pretty with makeup."

@gayathiri - what about light makeup??

I totally agree! I am so sick of people seeing my makeup collection and being all like "OMG how much makeup do you have, your only thirteen!" And ho early it doesn't do anything to my face and I've been wearing foundation for a year.

Charlotte F.
Yeah I agree, my sister says that all the time and it gets a bit annoying really;)

Sharon K.
@Caitlin - that's what happens to me too. But the good thing is that my friends ask me to do their makeup a lot. & its fun! About the foundation I don't break it I only have a pimple rarely while my sister doesn't wear any makeup but she breaks out more. But foundation can cause pre mature wrinkles and it won't look as good when you get older but as long as you wash your face two times a day and moisturize you should be good. But you won't have the best skin when you're older.

@charlotte yes same here. My sister always tells me that I know she means good but ehh... ;P.

Thank you!! I feel exactly the same. Mostly it's friends and family that say those sort of things to me. In the UK, or where I live in the UK, I don't think it's too much of an issue. People my age at school also wear make up so as long as you don't over load it's absolutely fine!

Yeah my friends say that I'm more beautiful without make up, but thats just who I am! Here in the netherlands, I've been called whore and much worse things for wearing red lipstick and black eyeliner at 14! But I'm not changing who I am for society! No way in <3.

Eh, I feel like kids should be kids while they are kids. overdoing the makeup just makes you look like you're trying to be ''grown'' too soon...plus most younger kids I see wearing layers of foundation, concealer, dark lipstick, lipliner, and excess mascara and eyeliner look like the joker anyway...
Aug 11, 2013
Sharon K.
@brittany - I agree that they may put on "too much" or excessive amounts but they some do actually try to look good. I think comparing their hard work to the joker is a bit rude.. Kids should stay kids yes. But teens should stay teens. We try new things (I'm not saying like drugs and stuff like that). But we are just enjoying our youth. It's like saying adults should stay adults. They shouldn't be wearing that much makeup either, or else they'll influence their kids. That's basically the same as the point you made about the kids staying kids.

A girl on my bus who was just a sixth grader put on makeup for the first time and a guy told her "what's on your eyes? Are you the joker?"
I'm not sure your age and if you're older I'm sorry & I don't mean to be disrespectful, but honestly.. Saying that they look like the joker on here doesn't make you any better than the guy who said it to that sixth grader on my bus.

Finally I found some one who feels the same as I do.

@Sarah, doesn't it just feel good to know?? Aha.(:

@sharon
well I wouldn't say that to a random sixth grader in person ( since that would be a little mean), I'm just expressing my general viewpoint on what happens when kids go crazy with the makeup too soon.
just because adults wear a certain amount of makeup doesn't mean kids should do the same. there are lots of things that a 40 year old can do, that a 12 year old shouldn't...
I feel like some kids don't know how bad they look with excessive makeup and everyone around them is too afraid of hurting their feelings to tell them they should ease up :/ no matter if I'm 12, 20, or 40 if I look like a mess, someone should tell me ( in a nice way) and not just let me out ''to do my own thing''. that's what parents and friends are for. but this is just my opinion

Sharon K.
@brittany,
I agree at some parts. But 40 year olds or actually adults in fact shouldn't wear a certain amount so they don't influence the "kids". Thinking it or saying it to that person would be the same. But sometimes their kids or their friends will still disagree. Like my mom told me I looked ugly or weird and embarrassing. My sister says I look better without and my brother. My whole family. I still wear it because I feel confident in it, and pretty. I know I'm pretty without but I love makeup.
I don't think your logic of the whole makeup thing is very fair.. I understand elementary schoolers shouldn't wear it. Middle schoolers shouldn't as much. Even though I did. & high school.. They're teens and they should have the choice to wear makeup. It's their face.

I wear, as people think, a lot of makeup. Gel eyeliner, eyeshadow, foundation, concealer, blush, bronzer, lip tint, gloss, brow powder, lil mascara, false lashes.
Aug 11, 2013
Sharon K.
Is that considered an early age? I started off with all that makeup. People disagree saying I shouldn't wear makeup. Been called : cakeface, whore, ugly, embarrassing, and more because of my makeup. But I still wear it because I feel comfortable in it and beautiful in it. Yet, my friends say I look pretty with it so I trust them.

Do I look like joker? With all this on? You said a lot of makeup. I wear "a lot".

My skin has some really bad days but they're really rare, and despite that I can totally get away with wearing no makeup.
