Has anyone noticed how it's now "cool" and "fashionable" for teenagers to come to school looking like they just rolled out of bed? No one seems put together anymore, and I find it quite sad. I think we should encourage teens to go above and beyond, and if it starts with their makeup, then it might end with a successful career. I'm not saying that everyone needs to wear makeup to be successful, but I feel as if us young people have gotten lazy. Our elders expect less and less of us when we show up to school in sweatpants and a ponytail.

And on the subject of red lipstick, since when did rouge lips become a symbol of promiscuity? I always grew up wishing I could pull red lips off. I thought they were classy, not trashy. Our majorette line has to wear red lipstick and we constantly hear, "You look like a whore with that on." Slut shaming needs to stop. Your makeup should not send negative connotations about your lifestyle. It should instead show people you mean business, that you care about what you do, and that you take pride in yourself.

Same here girl I feel the exact same what. It's your choice to put whatever you want on your face and if people don't like that it's their problem. I wear a lot of makeup too to cover my dark spots and people at school called me 'Nicki Minaj' or 'Barbie' and other rude stuff, but I don't let it affect me cause it's my makeup and my face I can wear as much as I want

@ Sharon
you do wear what most would consider a lot of makeup, but I did say ''most kids'' and "layers" upon layers of makeup. You're older than what I was talking about, so it doesn't apply as much. keep in mind I'm talking elementary and middle school here
you can't just say ''it's their face''... I don't know about you, but I don't know any middle schoolers with legitimate jobs that work for their money and get a regular paycheck. most of them get their money from their parents as either an allowance, or for babysitting, or chores or as a gift from relatives, etc. they couldn't afford the excessive makeup without their parents pockets, so its completely within a parents right to say ''you're not going to buy all that makeup or wear it out''
I mean its also ''their body'' and a 12 year old shouldn't wear extra short, extra tight, see-through provocative clothing either. they shouldn't be able to get a tattoo or lip piercing without permission, even though its ''their body''. kids are kids, they have parents who are in charge of them and make decisions for them until they're adults...THEN they can do whatever they want.

You don't look like a joker, and it sucks you got called names for your appearance. I don't agree with bullying in any circumstance
I don't think middle schoolers shouldn't be able to wear any makeup. I just think many of them go crazy without knowing what they're doing

I agree Shannon. Every day I get up extra early for school, to do my hair and makeup, put on decent clothes, and try to look presentable. Most of the 'popular' kids in my school wear ponytails and sweats to school, and they tell me, and other girls who try to at least look presentable, that we shouldn't be straightening our hair or wearing makeup. I'm like come on! We are in high school! I think we are allowed to make beauty related decisions for ourselves! If we want to do makeup, why not! If we want to wear sweatpants to school, why not! Everyone has their own sense of presentation, and you shouldn't get made fun of for it. My parents are fine with my makeup, they say it looks nice and natural. We shouldn't have to worry about what other people think on something we have control over. Just my opinion.

I agree, there's a girl at my school who wears a "lot" of makeup and people always point it out to her. Kinda rude for them to do that, she knows what she's wearing so why point it out? I just turned 16 and I only wear eyeliner, mascara, something on my lips, and concealer (IF I break out) I hardly wear makeup because it messes up your skin and can cause wrinkles. Especially at a young age. No point for me to wear it if I don't need it. But I can honestly agree that people shouldn't be judged by what they do. If it doesn't affect you, who cares.

Oh good luck, fishie (: I was a fresh last year. I agree with you. I have bad skin. So I have tried so many different skin care remedies such as Nuetrogena, Proactive, drugstore and dermatologist brands. I've even tried Homemade stuff I find on Pinterest! My face is never totally cleared though. Due to this, I've always been insecure abouy my face and as an adolescent, I went through a lot of bullying. I was hesitant to turn to makeup to cover what I couldn't fix because my friends who were blessed with perfect skin look down on young girls who wear makeup. Now I've gotten more comfortable with it and I love learning new makeup methods and ideas! I agree with you that we shouldn't we so judgemental. Although it does help to know what you're doing before you go strutting around school in it. (:
