Are Samantha Chapmans 'real technique' brush sets worth 18 dollars each?

Ive been looking for some more brushes because i've been having my set for awhile now. I found these sets on this website and they all looked nice and sturdy and such. Are these brush sets worth 18 dollars each?

YES! I only use MAC brushes now (I saved up and bought one at a time) but Real Techniques were my absolute favorite and are amazing, better than some that even top of the line designers put out (I like them farrrrr better than Sonia Kashuk's, Sigma's, Chanel's, etc). It might take you a little longer to blend with them than with a MAC brush (that's the benefit really, is how much more easily and readily they blend) but they are seriously great brushes... They apply shadow well and also blend well and evenly. They hold up with use (not sure about extended years; I simply don't know, but you can definitely get a couple with them) with washing. There are so many different brush cleaning methods (I stick to baby shampoo and the occasional disinfecting wash with ELF's antibacterial one; I don't recommend dish soap- that's harsh) but yeah, very good brushes that work well and really last. What you said about them being sturdy is spot-on, and not just in the lasting quality they have but also because their bristles are like that of MAC's in that they're the perfect mix of stiff and hard. A lot of brush companies (Sigma, Chanel, etc) make them uber soft and it just doesn't blend as well nor does it apply a good amount of shadow; too stiff (Urban Decay) brushes make the blending very uneven- not to mention painful, and it takes so much more work just to distribute color evenly.

I swear by the RT face brushes. They've replaced all my high-end face brushes, including MAC! The RT eye brushes leave a bit to be desired, but I use those for concealer and cream shadows, etc. But they're super affordable and I can't recommend them enough!

I had the pleasure of coming across Bdellium Tools at IMATS because these beautiful green brushes (also comes in yellow) caught my eye. The brushes I'm referring to from their line is called Green Bambu (and Yellow Bambu). Let's put it this way, every time I walked by their booth that weekend I had to stop and play with the brushes because it was so incredibly soft. A set from there is FAR less than Real Techniques. I do own two of her brushes that I bought at Ulta and I only bought them because it was buy 1, get 1 50% off and I had a $3.50 off coupon so buying those two brushes was less than $10. It's the only way I would buy her brushes.

I admit, bdellium is more pricey in the long run than Real Techniques however the bdellium brushes are professional brushes used in the industry while Real Techniques is more or less meant for the everyday person.

As I mentioned I do own two Real Technique brushes - Foundation Brush & Stippling Brush - but the quality of those brushes are less than bdelliums where I just want to touch my brushes all the time because it's so incredibly soft to the touch.

Im sure i would absolutely love those brushes too, as amazing as they sound. But ive got a tight budge considering im only a sophomore in highschool and paying for all my makeup with my money. So maybe those could be my next choice for when i save up enough money!(: Thanks for the suggestions!

If on a budget and in the US then wait for Ulta to have the (Real Technique) brushes on sale. You can then order the brushes online for so much less and either can use one of their promo codes for free shipping (if no Ulta in your area) or $3.50 off $10. The Real Technique brushes tend to go on sale every other month it seems or every third month.

An alternative are EcoTools which are also soft AND EcoTools puts out printable coupons from time to time ($1 off). RiteAid and Walgreens tends to put EcoTools on sale often as well.

If you live on the west coast check out Fred Meyer. I sell RT brushes in my department and they are great!
