My husband who is a cosmetic/skincare chemist hates facial cleansing wipes and his point was driven home over the weekend as I experienced a nasty reaction to Burts Bee Cleansing Wipes for Sensitive Skin. Immediately after using just one wipe my face, neck and eyelids broke-out with painful welts. Even after he did a cleanse wash on me my skin still felt like it was burning hours later. He hates it when clients come to him wanting to include facial wipes in their lines because the ingredients needed to keep them viable in the packaging can be highly irritating (phenoxyethanol, 2-bromo-2-nitropropane, propylene glycol, dipropylene glycol) but the alternatives that he offers are dimissed because they are more expensive and will require an expiration date on packaging. He said you're better off using baby wipes spritz with a non-alcohol toner. Thoughts ladies/gents?

I use the Kirkland brand facial wipes from costco and they seem to work fine but they do burn my eyes when wiping my eye makeuo off. I will definitely look into baby wipes. thanks for the info!!

I don't know about Olay @Satvir brand but if they aren't causing you any irritation at all then you have a winner. He also added all the unnecessary rubbing and applying pressure to the eye area to remove mascara for example is just contributing to premature aging as facial skin especially around the eye area needs TLC. In a product demo to prove his point to a client on how drying the chemicals needed to add to the facial wipes he poured a liquid mix currently used by a skincare line on the top of his hand. It didn't take long for his skin to look and feel tight/dry. To "mask" the ugly ingredients used they put so called "nutrient rich" stuff in it but it does no good because for most lines its listed far at the bottom which means there isn't very much of it. I used to be a big fan of wipes even against my husband's wishes but after listening to his one hour lecture I'm cool on 'em.

Funny you mention this. I just picked up neutrogena brand and the past two days have left me with bumps. I thought I was having a breakout but couldn't figure out why. I will discontinue use.

Olay wipes are not damaging your skin Satvir if your not having any reaction to them your fine but I would not use them in place of a cleanser they are not suppose to replace cleansing your skin if you want to use one before you wash your face thats fine.Shelley clearly had a alergic reaction to somthing in her face wipe burts bees is an all natural line and my sister can't use it because she is alergic to cotton and willow bark an thats in burts bees I do feel face wipes are just not needed if you have a good cleanser.

Around your nose an mouth area is very sensitive it does look irritated you should not just be using them alone without washing your face after an if it is a exfoliating wipe it is more harsh than a regular wipes try puting alittle hydrocortisone cream on the area.
