I think it will work but I was just wondering can I apply you've gel top coat over regular nail polish then cure?

You can, it doesn't last quite as long as a full gel mani though. It also means you have to soak it off, but it should help itty last longer!

I did that once but it barely lasted a week for me..try it and see how it lasts for you.
