I've been considering getting one. But what makes it better than others?

Nothing. There is no reason to shell out that kind of money on a lash curler. I have a Japonesque mini lash curler I bought 10 years ago at half the price of Shu that is just as good and in perfect condition still.
Spend the extra cash on tweezerman tweezers and thier metal lash comb. Now those are worth the money!
