I have hard water in my new apartment, and it's taking a toll on my hair. I read to use a clarifying shamooo/conditioner but I need help on which brand to try that won't strip hair and actually works.

You can also try to rinse your hair in cold water with vinegar:-)

I have really hard water too, but instead of clarifying shampoo I use the purple shampoo they sell at Sallys to reverse the orange, it works pretty well!!

It's just water that has a lot of minerals in it, which gives hair a little orangey-bronze tint.

Is it possible to put a filtration system on your shower head. That could help.

I'd alternate, or use clarifying shampoo with a purple toning conditioner. Best of both worlds! I use AG, and I love it, works incredibly well and smells amazing. I always grab mine when Ulta does their liter sale, makes it way more affordable. Plus it's cruelty free and a portion of their profits go to build a school in Africa every year!

You can buy a shower head at Lowes or Home Depot for $30 that will filter the water.

I just dealt with a shower head filter before I purchased a unit for my house. They are super easy to install and can picked up at most major hardware stores.

Joico has a good clarifying shampoo but don't use it all the time because that will also damage your hair. do it like once or twice a week.
