I've already had a big cut. I hardly use any heat yet it's still dry and dead.. Any suggestions? I really want it to grow and my layers to grow out...

Tashurr, there aren't to many things to do... Learn to style hair without heat and pick a care line for damaged hair, it won't treat hair, but will make it look better:-)

Oils just make roots stronger, hair itself will become only heavy.

When I was trying to fix my hair after I chopped off all the damage I did heat styling and coloring, I focused on working with my natural texture and deep conditioning whenever I could. I replaced regular conditioner with deep conditioning treatments, I also did at least one hot oil (coconut or olive) treatment a week. I switched to a non sulfate shampoo and I only styled my hair with products that didn't have alcohol in them. Now I'm 90% frizz free, I don't really need to deep condition as much as I used too, and my favorite thing to style my hair with is a tiny bit of coconut oil because it smells great and adds shine to my ends.

For repair, use essential oil conditioning treatments like pro naturals moroccan argan oil hair mask once a week and get regular trims to prevent split or damaged ends. Try not to use heat or dyes on your hair either! You can also massage your scalp once a week with coconut oil, almond oil or argan oil to help stimulate health and growth, and leave in the oil for about 30-50 minutes to let it sink in and work. This kind of thing is very repairing.
