When I was pregnant & I was taking them my nails grew, my hair was fuller and longer and my skin seemed flawless! so they worked orally for me lol I don't know about the whole putting them in shampoo bc I never tried it like that.

Not to burst anyones bubble, but taking prenatals for hair growth doesn't work. When pregnant, hormones are racing through your body and that is what makes hair and nails grow faster. Its a common myth that the prenatals are what makes hair and nails grow. I've learned this in med school, and saw it also on TV on The Doctors the other day as well. Hair grows faster if you have healthy hair. There's no product build up on roots and a healthy hair root promotes more growth. :/

Can you take them even if your not pregnant?

I was pregnant while taking them and it did help my hair because I was lacking vitamins. so once I had the vitamins I should have had on my body everything was more healthy

"women may experience changed in their hair growth during pregnancy. In most cases, these changes are temporary and will return back to their original condition after birth..." -Elite Continuing Education for FL cosmetologist.
You can't compare a pregnant woman to woman without child. The hormones are out of whack and there are so many special conditions happening with the body at that time. I also agree with her point that they don't work. It's the hormones and physiology that makes hair grow in pregnant women not the prenatal vitamins.
