Hey everyone!
soo I'm getting Dr Martens from Solestruck.com
and I'm getting the Britain boots.
I've done some research and learned that docs typically run a half size to a whole size larger than your normal size, I am a women's US size 8
and I have orthotics I would need to fit inside the shoe that fit a size 8 shoe and measure 25.5 cm.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the docs sizing and whether or not it would be a good idea to size down and get the 7? or stick with the 8
The orthotic insoles I have can make the fit of shoes a little snug, and there are no half sizes available, I would need to buy the shoes today in order to get the discount I want haha!
Thanks! :)

I got a pair in my normal size and they were fine, you don't want them flopping about

I will compare four of my most different pairs of Doc Martens and the sizing details for reference at the bottom of this. The ones made in England, I bought about 13 years ago, so my memory is not so great on the actual circumstances... but their sole size matches up to one of my other Docs, that's why I'm assuming they're unisex sized when some of my others are sized for females. PAY ATTENTION to the sizing on the site-Make sure you understand if they are listing it in female or male/unisex sizing since there is a big difference!

I find when I buy steel toed Docs, they have much more room than those without steel toes. There is a lot more room in them, so I buy a size down without any problems and they are very comfortable right away. When I buy Docs without steel toe caps, the bridge where the tongue meets the rest of the shoe, is very tight on me for the first month or so of wearing them-I have sized down in the past, but I think if I was going to buy a new pair in the future, I would buy either Men's (hoping there is a difference and they fit larger) or my true size (10).

Right now, I am a size 9-10 US Women's shoe. These are my four most different fitting or made pairs of Docs to compare, so I only did 4:
-I have one pair steel toed, Made in England, size 6 UK/8 US. Ladies
-I have one pair steel toed, Made in China, size 7 UK/9 US Ladies. Roomy even before breaking them in.
-I have one pair NON steel toed boots, Made in China, also size 7 UK/9US Ladies. They hurt to break in, they were very tight on the bridge/height-not the width or length though.
-I have one pair NON steel toed boots in a limited edition pattern, Upper Material Made in Thailand, Size 7 UK/ 9 US ladies. I'm thinking these may be vegan and not real leather because they were SOOOO comfortable right out of the box and MUCH easier to break in than the non steel toed leather boots in the same size.

Hey guys,
Thank you for your feedback! was very helpful :) I also emailed the store and they recommended I buy my regular size, and I'm thinking maybe my insoles will compensate for the extra room
fingers crossed they're a good fit!

I was a store manager for a shoe store that sold docs and we only recommended going down if you were the half size like if your were a 7 1/2 get the 7 not the eight just because its real leather so it stretches but if your a true 8 get the eights especially since you have insoles you need in there and the looser they are on your feet the less they will stretch because your feet arent pushing on them anywhere!
