Haha... I've never noticed this word and have no idea, but I suppose that it could mean overloaded, heavy, with crusts...

I hear people say "I don't want a product that's too cakey" that's why- or when they say cakey they mean that there are dry patches which to me are a skin thing then product thing.
Cakey to me is the effect of makeup looking piled on, sometimes it's not the product itself but the technique is using to put it in.

I think cakey is when makeup looks obvious. like its been poorly applied or just a bad product. cakey faces ruin entire looks for me. I have had products that cake and just refuse to look good - those are cakey products :)

That my skin has dried up in a certain spot, and due to make up it becomes noticeable.

When it is layered on and looks very thick and unnatural.

Cakey to me is when you can see there is an actual thick layer of make up and this looks worse when areas of the skin are super dry and look flaky. This is so easy to avoid through good moisturising and less amounts of make up. x
