So I have a beauty blender, the original. I was gone for a few days, and when I got home, it had a hole in it? Its almost eight months old, so maybe it was from shrinking down so much since I usually use it every day? I was wondering if any one else had their blender do this? Because I would like to repurchase it, but not if it's going to keep breaking.

^ yeah it's most likely because it's old & frequently used. I've had sponges do this to me before. I'd probably get a new one every 6months or so.

I just don't want to pay for another one if they tend to do this often. I think I'm going to try brushes. Thanks girls!

Yeah in my opinions brushes are the way to go (:

Beauty blenders are only meant to last 3-6 months depending on how often you use them.

Not just for hygienic purposes, but I guess because the material just can't handle more wear then that.

Yeah its definitely. time for a new one. Do you use the solid soap designed for it? Because if not that could be another reason so the hole. And I think $20 for a spong that last you 8 MONTHS isnt bad! So I would just get a new one.But thats just my opinion.

I find it's a huge waste of money for a sponge especially if they don't last that long. Sorry just my opinion! Buy brushes or just use your fingers!

Well if you figure a regular bag of sponges is about 2-3 for what like 20? You use one hygeinic ally everyday for 6 months that's about $18 give or take. For a generic sponge that isn't great for application or skin.

So $20 for a sponge that actually cuts application time and product use in half and lasts about the same time is a great deal. -I'm speaking from a cheapo/makeup artist standpoint.

I recently started using the beauty blender on myself and love it, makes my skin look great since I have less then perfect skin.

If you're willing to splurge on a splurge worthy brush like mac or whatever then you should, but if you intend on opting for a cheaper alternative like elf or eco tools etc. that $20 is wasted regardless, since a $3 brush will break and have to be repurchased numerous times.

My $0.02 :)

I'm not trying to knock the beauty blender, it's just my opinion and it's my opinion that I don't like using sponges. I just find it to be highly over priced for a sponge when you can go to the dollar store and buy like 20 sponges for $1 plus I've heard some of the cheaper dupes work just as well. For me personally I hate the finish a sponge leaves on my skin, but I don't care if other people like it, everyone likes different things. And I totally don't agree on brands like elf and eco tools are a waste of $20 and will break. I've never purchased a "high end" brush and I've used brands like elf and eco tools for years and not one has ever broken and I've always heard great things about the brands so I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about...

I clean mine everyday, before I use it with dawn dish soap. I didn't want to pay for the cleaner. Lol. But I guess it's a God investment, since I do Love it.

I didn't knock your opinion, I was justifying the price behind it.

If you've seen any of my reviews I'm constantly praising elf brushes. In fact my kit- used on clients- has plenty of ELF brushes in it.

But I've also had to repurchase them plenty of times, and have spent more then $20 on a particular elf brush because it constantly broke.

I was just showing where the same $20 could go.
Towards packs of generic not so good sponges.
Numerous cheap brushes
A high end brush
Or a high end sponge.

Also, cheaper dupes (in my opinion) don't work as well. They absorb more product, are harsher on the skin, and cause irritation since they aren't sensitive skin freindly.

You shouldn't get so defensive, my reply wasn't pointed I was responding to everything said in the thread.

Also @cierra the dish soap will break down the sponge quicker, probably caused that hole :)

I wasn't getting defensive I was just justifying my opinion. I kind of thought your response was a bit aggressive, sorry for the misunderstanding, so many things can be misinterpreted on the internet lol.

You can get a sponge like that at ulta beauty for like five bucks I think thats cheap especially if it lasts six months.
