When I am stuck coming up with costume ideas (I am a cosplayer so I spend a bit more time in costume than the average person, lol) I look at my favorites: movies, TV shows, books, music, videogames, etc. Eventually I find a person/character that I think would be fun to dress up.
A lot of characters can be made using items you have/can find in the charity shop. Easiest costumes are the generic ones that rely more on makeup than clothing: witch, vampire, fairy/elf, zombie, Lichtenstein painting, doll, clown, sugar skull, etc.
Is there any parameters you have to fit into (e.g. themed party, work appropriate, child-friendly)?
