I too am from Maryland and was more than happy to find out that Maryland replealed the law requiring licensing. So Yes I too am a makeup artist. It would be wise to look at nearby states including states that you would like to work in and see what requirements they have as well. Some have fallen suite like Maryland other have not. Get as much creditentially and hands on experience from possible internships under other pro artist or working with local photographers. Why getting a certificate is good for most of the fly by night makeup schools, they will not qualifiy to be a pro. They are too busying taking your money. No fair I know.
One last thing is when looking into multiple states see if there is a reciproccol agreement for licensing requirements if you should need them. Good luck on your dream.
