My real nails are short and I tend to pick at them all the time! I just want them to be pretty!

Oh ok =) mine are long and thick naturally so I just paint them =) I was just curious, sorry I couldn't be helpful. But if you can find some diamond dust, it might help.

Have you ever tried Shellac? I used to wear acrylic nails all the time...but now I just get shellac on my nails.. no chipping, colors stay glossy, and it makes your nails grow... I love it!

I have acrilic on for the past 3 years, I love them, and sort of addicted, they are expensive to maintein, every 3 weeks you must either refilled them or rewhite them, if it's for a one time occasion only you still need to go to your beautician to remove them after 3 weeks, attempting to remove acrilic at home, if not qualified will damage your nails badly, apart from this once done you'll love them but you need to commit to them ;)

I think acrylic nails are kind of a dated look. I get Shellac which looks awesome but only lasts two weeks.

I would try gels same idea as the acrylics but last longer and don't tend to lift as easily. they can be applied a little thinner then the acrylics too. I've had acrylics for years on end switched to gels and will never go back. Lisa covered the maintenance on them. gels can go a little longer for the maintenance. to get off acrylics just soak in acetone for a while and file.

Don't!! I used acrylic for 10 year becouse I always bit my nail, but they made them so weak and and brittle! Try to grow your own nails..stay away from acrylics becouse in the long run they are not healthy at all for your nails!!
