I want to practice makeup more on myself but I get concerned about having to wash a lot and irritate my skin. I have other gals lined up willing to help me out but until then do you have any suggestions? I have combination skin (oily T zone and dry/flaky chin).

It is hard on your skin, I did 2 big costume make up looks last week, and it was hard on my skin, but just remember to moisturize like crazy after washing!!

Lolita, I have combo skin like yours, and super sensitive, acne prone skin. I've been using bare minerals for about 2 years now and have never had a problem with it. as far as washing your face, its important to do a good nightly cleanse when wearing makeup. you just have to fond what's good for your skin. I use Ultrabland from lush. its all about testing things out and seeing what works best for you.

Oh, do I still put on my regular moisturizer or just use the vitamin e?

Hey lolita, I woukdnt suggest using vitamin e oil as its quite heavy. cool that it works for Gabriela.
as far as makeup goes. the bottomline as with anything is to do what works for you.. I personally only use formulas that make my skin at least feel the same afterwards. I do frequent mask and I use serums and moisturizers up the ying yang!..
I don't think its bad for you to practice with makeup for do b conscious of what you're using to take your makeup off as you don't want to overdry.
when I was teaching myself looks I would coordinate my trials around my bedtime.. do a soft clean like maybe just witch hazel on a cotton ball or something similar to give me a clean surface. then when I was done with my trial and taking pics (really the best way to critique your work) I'd wash my face for bedtime..
you just really have to go thru some trial and error to find products that work for you. but plenty of us here cam give you recommendations and places to start with that..
a few tips I think don't get much attention here as makeup addiction gets more focus
1. find a natural look that works for you. no makeup or concealer n powder. something very light because your skin really needs to breathe..
2. when you find something that works for you/your skin stick with it!. its all good to stay up on what's new and all but its not necessary to switch around n try everything that comes out. when you find your holy grail stay with it.

Vitamin E is on the thick side and doesn't absorb into the skin as well as grapeseed or rose hip oil. I do what Naomi does...leave the experimentation for right before my final cleanse in the evening. I have oily/combo skin as well (my chin is my sahara desert) so I feel your pain. You can try a cleansing milk...its something I go to during the winter months and its super gentle or a cleansing oil. The only thing with a cleansing oil is that you have to go in with a traditional cleanser afterwards because the residual oil that is left behind from the cleanser oil blocks your treatment products (serums) from penetrating the skin. But I will say that the cleansing oil is awesome at removing eye makeup so it cancels out the need for a separate eye makeup remover.
