I am quite unfamiliar with the usage of highlighters ( I use everything but). I hate putting creamy & texturized makeup on my face for it comes off a little tooo.. CAKEY! So I'd absolutely appreciate any feedback or recommendations on the subject. thanks much xo :)

You can try a powder highlighter like MAC's MSF in Soft & Gentle or an Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder if you don't like creamy products. That being said, I love love love Benefit's High Beam, it comes off very glowy without looking cakey. I'd start by using a shimmering highlighter on your Cupid's bow, on the tops of your cheekbones, and in the inner corners of your eyes. You can highlight the bridge of your nose, your forehead, and chin with a slightly lighter concealer than your skintone. That way it's slightly highlighted but you still have room for error because you're just starting out! :)
