Side Braid Help!!

I am doing someone's hair this afternoon and she wants kind of diagonal French braid in the back but she said she wants it to look more curly in the front and I am trying to figure out what exactly she means/how to do it? I was thinking about doing a French or dutch braid but leaving the hair along the hairline out and curling it than adding it in towards the bottom so it looks really curly. I really just don't know if the would look weird or not. she has long hair (to the middle of her back) so I'm not to worried about that. Suggestion?

What you described your planning on doing is what I was going to suggest for you. It will look good. Maybe curl all the front and top hairs before you go into the side French brade and then leave the front pieces out and tuck some of them in the braid. Just make it all flow together
