I want to get a MAC lipstick tattoo on my forearm for my 18th birthday. My mother introduced me to MAC when I was younger so it's always been a bonding thing for us to go to MAC.
Anywhooooo. I want to try to get a job in beauty retail when I turn 18 (four months!) I was aiming for MAC but I think that may be a little far fetched, and I really like the atmosphere at Sephora and they seem a little easier with the hiring process.
Long story short, would having a MAC tattoo be weird working at Sephora? Could it possibly hinder my chance of getting hired? I kind of look at it as having a tattoo for Burger King and working at McDonald's... Or am I just overthinking everything like normal?

At the end of the day, if mac means something to you then get it totally. and if sephora weren't to hire you just because of a tatt that would be quite silly. if you prove to them that you've got everything it takes to benifit their company then you should have nothing to worry about xx good luck x

If you look at my pictures I don't put any on my lower legs or arms until I've got a solid place in my career, the placement could be different..is there another place that could be inconspicuously covered if you needed to? you're definitely over thinking it though lol, if mac is important to you then do it girl!

I think you should get it! I don't see a reason you wouldn't get hired just cause of a tattoo. The tattoo you want shows your passion for makeup :)

You can always inform at sephora and mac what their tattoo policy is.

What about getting a lipstick that resembles the MAC one and is obvious but without saying MAC
And I'm sure sephora would have you cover it since it shows commitment to another brand they don't sell.

You should get it, just not out in the open where it can be seen with your every day clothing. In my opinion, I think you have the right way of thinking. If you were working at Sephora, MAC is their competitor, so...

You should get it if it means something to you. you can always cover it depending where you get it.

If the tattoo has meaning to you, then get it! it's a good idea. like the other girls said, you can go into Sephora & ask them about it. you could also just wear long sleeve shirts or use Kat Con D's tattoo concealer to cover it before work.. there's lots of options out there :p

I think if there's any question about it, you could explain how it has special meaning for you and your mom. If they don't understand that, then that's their problem.
On the positive side, it would really show your love of makeup which is definitely to your advantage. :)

I think the tat question is pretty much covered but my question to you beautiful is why are you settling? You mentioned how you want to get into MAC but feel that its too far-fetched for you. I'm sorry but I'm a firm believer in following one's dreams regardless of barriers. The only barriers are the one's you create and no one else. Just from looking at your beautiful profile pic you are pretty dang good. MAC holds such a special spot in your heart because of the bonding experience it created between you and your mom and if I was a hiring manager hearing that in the interview process I would definitely take that into serious consideration because that shows loyalty. And loyalty is hard to come by these days. I'm not trying to discourage you from working with Sephora...get your feet wet there but always have your eyes on the prize. :) I wish you much success beautiful. :)

Thank you so much ladies and thank you so much Shelley for that heartfelt response. I actually got kind of emotional, 😪 I've always dreamed of working for MAC, but I've seen some talented ladies get turned away and that really discouraged me. I always felt like MAC is just the elite and I'm not good enough. Thank you so much for the words of encouragement. I'm actually going to go ahead and apply to MAC for my birthday. What have I got to lose? 😊
And thanks Carolyn for the tip about not actually having "MAC" on the tattoo. I never even considered that. It'd still be obvious that it's MAC because who doesn't know that famous silver and black tube? 😉 Best of both worlds.
Thanks for all the suggestions and opinions. I'm for sure going to get my tattoo. 😊😊😊

Yay!
We'll be twinning soon
I'm getting my lipstick tat soon and it's of course going to be a Mac tube without the brand name
