I'd try a wand. Check out EleventhGorgeous on Youtube, they've done two lovely curled hair tutorials today with wands.

What @Hannah said :) Or if you want to try heatless you can try the headband method :) In case you don't know what that is, I'll post a pictorial for you :)

That too^ obviously if you don't have a wand you don't need to buy one! I curl my hair with my flat iron all the time, it works perfectly fine as well.
