Michele be careful with those ion color dyes they didn't do any good for my daughter hair the color is not true it's a very weak finish.

The ion also has terrible consistency which makes it hard to use and it has VERY inconsistent results that end up in a very splotchy result. The formula is so thick and almost crumbly, that I had to use 4 bottles of their teal color just to cover my hair (about your length) and the result was still horrible =( At Sally's the easiest to work with is Manic Panic. The Beyond the Zone brand (their blue color, Huckleberry Blue) was very fickle and hard to apply without a splotchy result-I had to do a "soap cap" dying method in order to achieve results with that one... it ended up looking great, but the color didn't really stick any other way (I haven't had that problem with any of the other "Beyond the Zone, Color Jamz," only the blue). But I really loved the result when I got it right. But for ease of applying and consistently good results without any "splotches" or patches of discolored hair, I would recommend going with Manic Panic at Sally's... Just from my experience from trying ALL of the blue colors from each of the brands offered there.

You are absolutely right Natalie you explained it to the T. Yes manic panic has always been the go to colors for me as a teen and now many years later it's my daughter go too :-) we tried the ion because we thought why not lets try it but heck no like Natalie explained it is exactly like what we dealt with.

Splat works awesome on my hair.. How long does mp usually last since it's semi.

I did my best not to wash my hair much with MP. the colour fade was nuts and I did weekly touch ups. splat lasted a long time and the fade was gradual and pretty. I'd say MP has 1/4 lasting power of splat.. and that might be overly optimistic.. however; I am aware that everyone's hair is different. I just happen to think you'd like splats blue much better... I guess you could always use splat over MP if it didn't work out.. but if your low on funds like I am, I'd go with what you know works well for you.

@Michele S I used splat when my hair was purple and pink. It works well and doesn't wash out so fast. Check out my pictures.
