I have the exact same curlyness and I find cutting it straight helps a lot, I do it with my curly clients aswell but also try and find someone that can cut curly hair and that understands as a hairdresser I know many people that don't no how to.

I also have curly hair so when I cut it I make sure its always a little below my shoulders or else it will puff up I get you girl I suffer to😁

I do the search and destroy method. I haven't had it professionally cut for a year. When I'm detangling my curl I sit there with some scissors and snip off all the split ends, it takes time though that's the only problem. You should do a treatment every week too also use argan oil in your treatments if you get it cut as this will make it grow a little quicker!
