I'm not sure for contouring, but for highlighting there are cream highlights and powder.
For cream highlights, I recommend the hard candy glow all the way in the gold shade. Very pearlescent and luminous. You can also use a lighter concealer or cream foundation that is 2 to 3 shades lighter than your skin tone as a highlight. For powder, irecommend the hard candy so baked bronzer in tiki or wet n wilds mega glow.

Nars is amazing for that kind of stuff!! they have a wide range of concealors that you can get a few shades darker to contour and a few shades lighter to highlight. they also have like the #2 selling bronzer in the world (laguna), and its fabulous for contouring! they also have a nice shimmer highlighter (albatross) that you can use all over or in certain places :)

Honestly, it doesn't matter what you contour with. All the MUAs I watch say that. You don't need to go out and get contouring kits. For highlighting Just get a foundation, or concealer lighten than your skin. Then contouring get a foundation, matte bronzer or matte eyeshadow darker than your skin. I have very deep skin so I use a very dark brown matte shadow (mixed with a tiny bit of black)

I agree wth symone, I'm the same I use my concealer and a dark matte foundation to do my contoring with or one of the sleek pallet,
Everyone is different so you go out and try out different things and I promise by doing that you'll find what you love and are most confortable with :) xxx

You could buy 2 foundations; one that is 1-2 shades darker than your skin tone for the contouring & one that is 1-2 shades lighter for the highlight.
you could also go to Sephora & ask one of the girls there what products/kits are good for contouring & which would match your skin best.

@Symone, totally agree with you. I run into a problem finding a product that is lighter than skin color which is paste like, I find it hard finding a light enough foundation. Any suggestions on a cream that is light? Cool undertones so I don't think gold would work.

Great suggestions ladies, may I add a few things as for color should be darker and cool grey tone when contouring to help create the shadowing, like Kyra mentioned bronze can be in a cool tone but slightly, it still will have that finish of bronze warmth undertone to it which can give you that dark muddy look to the skin and why it is for warming enhance a tanning effect. The finish is quite different from the two and it's safer with a darker foundation and sculpting kit because you most likely have your match since you have the grey cool tones to work with in those products. Here is a link to Jordan Liberty Video he is a well Established Makeup Artist and also has a profile here on Beautylish and his work was featured on the cover of Makeup Artist Magazine coming out this December so keep a look out :) His video should help all understand the challenges of contouring and highlighting,So here is the link to his wonderful info and work http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHAwKaN6Ubo.
