Will gel polish ruin or weakened my healthy strong nails?

It will make them week because you have to buff a little of your natural nail for it to adhere to.I use to do nails back n the day lol

Thank you!

It can weaken them after a while because you have to soak them in acetone to remove them and like Christy said generally a light buff is used. I did mine every 2 weeks for a year straight and did notice a difference. I didn't feel it was as bad as the damage acrylics can do though.

I'm a nail tech and I think I can answer your question. it depends on which brand you use. some brands require a light buffing of the nail plate and some do not. the removal process is also good and bad with different brands. some cheaper gel brands use acetone, some use a stronger version of it. and some (shellac) have to be soaked and then scraped off. my personal favorite brand is called Gelish. the most important thing if you choose to get it done (no matter which brand) is that you go back to the same exact salon to get them removed properly! and the other thing is that the actual product does not damage your nails (in both acrylic and gel world) it is improper filing and removal process. go to a salon you trust, use cuticle oil regularly, and take vitamins. hope this helped!

My fav is gelish too. As long as you soak it off instead of peel it your nails will be fine.

I wear it all the time.
