My friends and family come to me all the time for makeup and beauty tips. At one point I was a counter manager for two makeup lines. Is taking Esthetics necessary or should I continue learning on my own?

It never hurts,to have that education as a background. Understanding histology of skin may in many ways help you become,a better MUA. It is not a necessity if your true passion is makeup artistry. In my experience many people think esthetics focuses on artistry but its minimal. Hope this helps in your decision making

I think I learned more just being in the environment of beauty. If you are going to work in a place that has constant continuing ed and ppl to learn from maybe not But if you'll be more on your own I would. Like the previous poster said it never hurts. Plus I don't think the hours are too long for esthetics but it is something that'll need full attn. get it girl! Good luck!!

You should take some makeup classes I took extra classes while in school for Esthetics bridal makeup and air brush makep are the ones I took and you get a certification unless you want to be an Esthetician I wouldn't go to school for it.
