So just like many of you, I tend to buy make-up I don't need at the moment so I don't open it for quite a few months (I keep them sealed and in their original packaging until I need them). Since it's such a long period of time from the time of purchase to the time I open them, will they "expire"? More specifically, setting sprays, mascara, and liquid hi-lighters. I keep them under the sink or in the closet in my bathroom.

Unless your keeping them for years they will be fine. It's opening and using them that will kick start the process. As long as your not leaving them out so that they evaporate then I can't see a problem with it. :)

Thanks for posting this! I totally have a stash of my daily routine makeup that I keep for emergencies or when I run out of product. I just like to stock up whenever I have extra money so it doesn't stress me out later. But I was too wondering about how long my back up powders or mascaras would last, so this definitely puts me at ease!

^@Natalie. I had to laugh when you said "stress you out". I totally do the same thing! you are my sister girl. ;-)
I buy most of my mascara and lipbalm in value packs n some stuff I have I do buy to out aside. I have a small overstick kit. I try to keep things in rotation but cosmetics do have a decent shelf life.
to piggy back off Jacqueline's very detailed n spot on assessment of the "issue" lol. I'd just like to add to keep in mind, a lot of brands we love because they are natural b cruelty free do not use the same preservatives as other cosmetics so some things may go bad before others. go with your gut on what seems ok to use.
I definitely rotate mascara often..

Haha @Naomi! We are always on the same level of thinking =P But like it totally does stress me out when I'm running low on something! hahaha whether its just a matter of hauling my butt way across town to buy something or trying to set aside the funds so I can buy whatever I need before it runs out lol PLUS its like a little present to myself when I reach in my stash drawer and get to unbox some new makeup =) so exciting!

@Natalie. I totally get that!... it stresses me out the same. then its like, "y didn't you just buy two to start with". but I have a problem with buying things n twos. I really have to get a grib!. lol. but meanwhile , I'm just curbing my anxiety by addressing it n staying stocked on stuff. haha.. ;-)
